    Attention Virgin Media v Sky

    Hi All

Currently got full sky package with 2 boxes (1 in bedroom & 1 in front room) and had a half price offer that was averaging my bill to say £50-£55pm - this month its £85 (with a PayPerViewEvent) and discount about to finish on 14th Feb.

I have BB (20mb) and Phone (XL) with Virgin Media as do not have a BT line.

Question is do I change my TV to Virgin as they have offered me the below package

    2 x 500gb Tivo Boxes
XL TV with sky sports & movies (In HD)
plus same options on phone and BB

£94.96pm with free installation and no cost for the Tivo Boxes.

What is peoples opinion on VirginMedia vs Sky TV and what would you do??

Gonna wait till 15th Feb before making a decision but wanted to run it past the DF'ers for there opinions

    Thnx In Advance

I moved from Sky to Virgin becasue of Broadband really but have Tivo and love it, there are people that hate Virgin and people that hate Sky that have had good and bad experiences with both. Personally I've always had a good experience with both but the three tuners and catchup TV made me choose Virgin plus Phone Broadband and Mobiles all from one vendor easy to manage.

Personally, I'd haggle that price down. I have two TiVo boxes, 30Mb BB, XL TV (not inc films or sport) and XL phone. £44pm.

I forfeited from Virgin Tivo for Acer Revo.
I then moved from Virgin to Sky, for an internet connection with no throttling.

I don't like to mention it much and am pretty reserved when it comes to the Virginmedia being price hiking tossers!
I arranged a package with them that steadily starting rose from £65 up to £102 in the end.

Cancelled the contract just 3 months in and moved to Sky. Never had a problem and my previous, next and all later bills are £75.65.
Love Sky and will not move unless Virgin offered me a free yearly subscription - after which I'd cancel and grab another special offer from Sky.

    But I'm not bias.

Also dont Virgin try to lock you in for 18 months upto 2 year contracts... whereas SKY are always 12 months.... It was when I was looking anyway..

Switched from a full healthy Sky package earlier this month to Virgin Media.

Got to be honest, I had no problems with Sky and mainly took the VM due to having mates rates.

The broadband speed is faster without question and I notice it uploading YouTube videos a lot, there is the capping but I'm working around that without any problems. Despite the various bad comments and feedback online the SuperHub is working well - getting a strong signal throughout my flat where the Sky Sagemcom one didn't. It is an awkward design though with the cables coming out the side.

For the TV though, again Sky was fine but given the choice I'm loving the TiVo box - when the wife is out I've got Spotify running and sounding great - the few steps back when rewinding quickly is a minor but great feature - and having the ability to filter the channels when the mini-menu is up is a priceless feature. (HD/Kids/Etc)

Phone is a phone really... nobody calls our house other than my family.

I have a TiVo box and yes it is superior to the V+ but I wish they would have kept the back button and the red button and a nice clock display. Currently paying 64 squid for L broadband, XL TV, L phone... I shall phone and a get a better deal me thinks after reading what some peoples get.

Been with virgin/telewest since they started up. Running 2 boxes, Tivo Box, V+HD Box, XL TV & Phone With Sky Movies & Sports. 60mb Broadband (Just been upgraded from 30mb) - £96pcm. Had it since last August. Tivo improved since 1st rolled out, still a few gripes with it though! They're upping everyones broadband speed for free, but their usual annual increase in price will take place soon! Will all be worth it if & when they get their free wifi network up & running though!
