main uses are going to be Xbox360 usage with best picture quality he can get, PC gaming he has a 1gb HDMI graphics card, and also uses the TV for his standard windows destop etc. he would aslo like to increase the size if possible...a big ask at that price i know but.

Second the Samsung. I picked up a LE40B530 for £399 just over two years ago and it's amazing for the money. Full 1080p, 24hz support.

The C530 is the newer model so it's the same panel with more features.

I bought this one its a Samsung ue40d5520 I got it a few weeks ago it's up at £479 but I offered them £450 and they took it. its a 40" led 1080p smart tv although its not 3d and the picture is cracking and its got freeview hd built in,

that said they have a 50" panasonic for £399 at currys I dont know what its like in person and its not 1080p but if you want a big telly its not a bad price.
