dial up sms

Many years ago there used to be a piece of software that used a dial up modem to dial up an sms centre, think it was in Germany, you put in the recipients number and the from number, that could be any number the blokes missus your bosses etc, and obviously the text.

my question is, is this still available and whats it called ? used to be free.

I think they have all moved to the web.

I use dailytxts dot com all the time. 10p a go and they take Paypal £1 topups.

Great fun. Use to use them to enable tracking on peoples mobile phones by spoofing the consent message.

It doesn't any more but back in the day with certain UK on-line mobile tracking services the confirmation SMS you had to send from the phone you want to trace was always the same confirmation code.

So you registered on line with one of the tracking services the phone number you wanted to trace. That phone got an SMS along the lines of "text abcd to 07951 123 456 to add this phone to your account". The phone owner just ignored it.

You then spoof this message with the phones ID and added it to you tracked account.

There after you could trace it anywhere. Doesn't work now though as the confirmation text for all services is random.
