Donating blood

I'm just about to leave the house to donate some of my (lovely kind-of-rare 0-) blood and just wondered who else on DF donates? I think this will be my tenth time.

They wont take my blood as i have the "Big C".
Unfortunately it's in my blood so they cant use it i did try to donate and i have always been an organ donor until my diagnosis.

i rememeber going to give blood when i was in the army to get out of work for the afternoon but i couldnt because i had been to a malaria country in the last couple of months but i do intend to do it at some point.

I've given quite a lot, when I was in the military, 4 times I think. Not because I felt I was doing a great favour at 19, but because you got a free coffe and donut. Haha, it's true...I'm still cheap

I used to want to but never could because every time they were in town I'd had a piercing not long enough before. If they'd taken my blood then I'd probably still be giving blood now but as I've got older I've developed an aversion to the idea. Not sure if they'd take it now anyway, it's a bit clotty. Maybe I'm just selfish.

I donated for the first time in September, always made a point of going to do it and never got round to it.

A woman in my work organised for a bus to come to our plant so that made it more convienent. It's back in February and I'm registered to donate again.

My old man recently got a bottle of champers and a plaque for reaching his 20th year or donating. And has to stop now due to medical reasons.

I however have tattoos and such so can't.

Yeah i've been donating for a few years. A mobile donating unit/van/thingy turns up where i work so its very convenient for me now, i used to have to go after i got home. Got my bronze certificate and badge a while ago and its worn with pride

im on 25 pints now i went to give platelets as well but I didnt have a high enough count

For years had a fear of needles then tried but because of blood pressure tablets was not suitable but now they accept it so think Im up to a gallon now Im soooooo brave
