I take it there are rule changes as most of the cars have a 'lump' where the front wishbones join the body?

McLaren dont seem to have gone down the same route though.

The new "Boxer" style nose must add some downforce over the front end for most of the teams to adopt it. Maybe Mclaren have just not played there "Ace" card just yet.

I read it was because the car front ends were getting higher every year as it aids down-force. The FIA now see this as a risk because a car would be more likely to take someones head off in a side-on collision. Only the very front of the car has to be low to the ground, hence the step.

It's almost as if McLaren leaked the new nose to other teams knowing it was crap as they don't use it

Logic would dicatate that this 'step' is not aerodynamic, but if it really was that much of a problem, surely the teams would have designed it out. Maybe Maclaren already have?
What is it with steel wool? Is it steel? Or is it wool?
