    Help abdominal pain

Last week I had really bad abdominal pain. I put it down to a one off but yesterday it happened again. The pain originates from the centre of my abdomen, and is like a sharp shooting sensation which lasts a few seconds, and it happens every few mins. Its woken me from sleep twice now.

I wonder if this could be related to when I was in hospital a few years ago with a bleeding stomach ulcer, although this time there is no blood in my shit.

I feel queasy when I eat sometimes. Any ideas what this is?

Could be a Duodenal ulcer mate, I had one of those, can be nasty and quite painful. The symptons your are showing are the very same I had, are you taking any medication to keep the acid levels down? I take one Pantoprazole daily and it's worked for me. Anyway mate whatever it is get yourself to docs asap!

Not on any medication at the moment. I'm on a course for 5 days so I'll nip to the docs on Monday. It doesn't happen every night, but when it does its painful

Just a thought mate.. when the pain starts if you're able to just eat something.. anything at that point in time, if the pain suddenly eases when you do, it's most likely the ulcer playing up.. I have had this myself since my ulcer in 1981.
    My preferred med is Omeprazole.
I don't suppose you have any Gaviscon as that is the qiuickest fix..

anyway good luck with it mate..

I was on Omeprazole mate (commonly known as Losec) and they took me off it and onto Pantoprazole which apparently is less harsh on your system, might be worth a conversation with your GP mate

Also worth considering appendix, they can 'grumble' for years. A full on attack starts centrally, moves down and to the left then across to the right which is where the appendix is actually situated, this would be properly painful and sustained whereas the 'grumbling' pain is sporadic and variable in timing, sounds more like an ulcer but best to be aware. . .

well usually when the pain starts in early morning, so im not up for eating anything. i havent had the pain since 2 nights ago now, however my stomach "feels" queasy...

im thinking this is most likely a ulcer. when i had that episode years ago,its because i was out with the lads boozing and partying a lot, i calmed down a lot since i met my missus and moved in with her. I dont drink much now due to my work having a zero tolerance policy will im on ship, and when im home im lucky if i have a few glasses of wine with a meal in a month. However I did have a beer on the flight to my course a day before the pain started, and a glass of cola at evening meal, so i think thats maybe what set it off.

Probably quite an advanced tumour. I would enjoy what you have left of your life.

More to do with food than booze I reckon, most of the people I know on rigs and ships get a fair proportion of fat in their food!!
