I've got a friend with a T-Mobile Vivicity who is looking to get it unlocked - is it possible?

yeah it is possible, you can ask most network providers for a code that the will supply for free in most cases, phone tmobile and ask for an unlock code, failing that take it to any back streetphone shop and you'll get it done for about 15-20 quid
