If you are having problems getting through to them call their customer services and ask to speak to the fibre team, the first time I called they put me through with no problem, they were willing to sign me up there and then but I said I'd have a think and get back to them, the next day I called the idiot first told me I couldnt get it, I told him I could and I've already spoken to the fibre team and they were willing to sign me up, he kept screwing me around until I basically said to him he has a choice he can put me through right then or my next phone call would be to BT and they'd lose a customer, he clearly panicked because he said "no no I'm putting you through now sir". maybe try that if you're having problems getting through to the right team
Just an update got my speed increase yesterday and so far so good has varied but i am well happy
Suck on that Virgin LOL
with BT but sky will have to follow BT's upgrade path as they own all the equipment, Externally i mean so it would be stupid of them not to ffoer the up to 78mb service when it has already become available even before they release there up to to 38mb service.

no idea on timescales but will ask someone at the council on what the plans are
ant3b (27th April 2012)
A mate of mine works for the council and says it has to be installed before the end of 2014... They did a lot of work last year installing the cables so it should be sooner rather than later. I fuckin hope so ... I'm in lower darwen and getting about 100kps download speeds at the moment.
If I were to upgrade are they gonna make me sign a new 12-month contract?
Shooooooo-ryuken!
i'm going to move to the rural north where the B4RN guys are ... lol... they even made it on the dailymail today

Sky is offering an up-to-76Mbps fibre broadband connection to new customers who call its sales hotline, but not to existing subscribers.
Technically, you are a new subscriber to the fibre service so should be eligible. If they still refuse, tell them to cancel the lot. I'm sure in my case they would rather take the £90+ a month off me than have nothing at all. Either way, I win, I need a push to ditch a lot of $ky shit as it cost me too much even if I can afford it.
Just checked my Sky account and looks like I've one more bill to pay before I'm up for renewal (end of May). So I checked BT's site, only to be informed I can go from my measly 6Mb (upto 20Mb!) Sky connection to a beautiful 50.6Mb connection at almost half the price of my current package that Sky costs. I'll lose Multi-room and be on a slightly lower TV Package, but I can live with that for half the price!
I'll go from paying £80 per month to £44. So Sky are so getting a "What have you done for me lately?" phone call this afternoon!
I registered an interest with Sky Fibre almost a 6 months ago and have heard nothing official from them as yet, even though my Exchange has been FTTC'd since February.
Patience has worn thin and now I have some leverage, I am sure as shit going to use it!
50Mb here I come!
How can you check if ur exchange is FTTC'd...
I tried sam knows and the FTTC check says limited for my exchange....
