Another of Google's cloud services. Similar to drop box. They gave me an extra 20GB, which is nice, so I now have 25GB.... What to store...!

Just tried half a dozen Gmail addys and all say it's not ready yet. Was it beta?
What was the extra 20GB thing about.
I bet they're loving going through everyone's stuff
I've just tried but it says google drive is.t ready yet but they'll notify me when my drive is ready.
I read an article that if it takes off Facebook might buy dropbox or similar to compete.

Its live and working grand for me. I've been lucky enough to use it for a while - i really really like the way its connected with all other Google products.
Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough! - http://toastlad.mybrute.com
I've got Skydrive from MS, and they've just released a slew of apps and PC and Mac utilities. As I'm an old subscriber I get the full 25GB, Happy days.

I'm of a slightly different opinion, if they want to go through my stuff - they're welcome.
Things such as how many miles I've covered in my car, insurance quotes and such are of no interest to anyone. My secure stuff like banking is secured, regardless of where it's stored.
Been using Google services for years. Clicked Sign In and took me to my already active drive with old files on it I thought I'd lost ages ago! Cheers.
i think its already active if you have google+ but i will have to wait as dont use that , bit more info on the size upgrades etc....
Storage plan pricing
Learn about your options for purchasing more storage for Google Drive, Picasa and Gmail.
Store up to 5 GB in Google Drive, 1 GB in Picasa, and 10 GB in Gmail for free and pay for additional storage as your accounts grow. Here's how it works:
- Tap into your free storage as soon as you start using Google Drive, Picasa or Gmail.
- Purchase additional storage that can be shared across Google Drive and Picasa (free storage doesn't transfer across products). When you purchase additional storage, your Gmail storage limit will automatically be increased to 25 GB.
Using Google Drive with a Google Apps account? If so, you can purchase additional storage. Gmail storage won't change when you purchase a Google storage plan with a Google Apps account. Note: If your administrator disables either Google Drive or Picasa Web Albums for your domain, you won't be able to use purchased storage in these services.
Google storage plans
Choose from the following monthly Google storage plans to be used with Google Drive and Picasa. When you purchase one of these plans, your Gmail storage limit will automatically increase to 25 GB. Yearly plans aren't currently available.
Taxes and fees
Storage Monthly Rate 25 GB $2.49 100 GB $4.99 200 GB $9.99 400 GB $19.99 1 TB $49.99 2 TB $99.99 4 TB $199.99 8 TB $399.99 16 TB $799.99
Prices listed above don't include any applicable taxes or fees associated with your country of residence. You may be charged taxes or fees in addition to the prices listed above.

The oldest file I have on my Google Drive is from May 2011 - just to give you lot an idea how long I've been on it's beta.
Completely forgot I was. Been using Dropbox for ages now. Much better ATM IMO.
Google Drive is yet to offer Public links for downloading AFAIK.
--EDIT
The is the download for Google Drive, but confirmed not working if your account is not active yet -

Google must like me, I was on Google+ and Google Drive early. Not sure why.

i already purchase 80GB of storage for my pics on picassa for $20 a year so may upgrade that if this is worth it
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
the app is available for android too
I'm a bit disappointed with all this - extra competition doesn't seem to be driving down prices that to me still seem quite expensive. As Mystical_2k has pointed out, he is buying 80gb of space for $20 a year. New joiners to google drive will pay $60 for 100gb.
At the same time Microsoft have reduced their free storage space from 25gb to 7gb.
Amazon S3 looks like an interesting concept, but works out pricier than google drive AND you have to pay to re-download your files if/when you need them.
I've recently decided I want to securely backup all my digital photos "off site" but it still seems like an expensive wish - as others have stated elsewhere, with the price of external hard drives you're probably better off buying your own space and storing the hard drive away from your home, but with something like digital photos where you're constantly adding new files this isn't the neatest solution.
I purchased 20GB and now my storage on drive in 25GB. I wonder if you'll have 85GB, when you get on...
Google will definitely bring prices down. They will also be adding more features.
For photos try Picassa, it's essentially the same thing, but just for photos. I paid £4 for 20GB for the year,

Geko - as of yesterday picasa pricing is the same as google drive....
