music Definitive tracks of each genre

I'm gonna do a class in the English school I work at based around music and the different genres. My students exposure to western music outside of lady gaga and Fuckshit Beiber is limited to say the least but my higher classes seemed to respond well to some old Beatles tracks I played em.

So, can people list what they regard as the definitive tracks of each genre? I know there are literally an endless ocean of different genres, so just the main ones. Ideally I want about 15 or 20 tracks to play em as its a 2 hour class and Ill probably play 30 seconds and then discuss the tracks with the kids.

I am going to give them some off the wall shit too, like Aphex twin, which should keep the debate going....

Dancehall - Sean Paul - Get Busy
Euro Dance - Snap Rhythem is a dancer
Rap - Nas - NY State of mind
Hip Hop - Eric B & Rakim - Microphone Fiend.
Hip Pop - Emingm & Rihanna - Love the way you lie.
Reggae - Super Cat - Don Dada
Garage - Lady Dynamite - Boo
2 Step Garage - Craig David - Re Wind.

From the top of my head. Obv open to interpretation between choices.

Also the genres have changed also, so even more difficult.

Difficult, because I don't like some of these but do define then as possible genre definitives. Although Hip Pop is open to interpretation.

Some here from the top of my head and I'm sure people would suggest different tracks.

Rock n roll: Rock around the clock - Bill Hayley and the comets.
60's pop - any Beatles track.
Late 60's hippy - Don Maclean - American pie.
70's uk glam rock - Mud - Tiger Feet
70's us punk - Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop
70's uk punk: sex pistols - God save the queen. (very apt ATM)
Reggae: bob marley and the wailers - Redemption song.
70's metal: Black Sabbath - Paranoid
80's new wave - Duran Duran - Rio
80's uk new wave metal: def leppard - photograph
80's indie dance: stone roses - Fools gold.
    80s & 90's alternative: REM - losing my religion.
90's britpop: oasis - Cigarettes and alcohol

    Just a start I guess.
