Don't see why, plenty of big businesses cashing in on the olympics why shouldn't he. If he/she has been chosen to carry it and is being given it anyway whats it matter what he does with it.

Currently all the runners have an option to buy their torches. If they want to sell them on eBay afterwards, it's up to them. I know what I would do.

What gets me is the fact some of them are saying they can do a lot of good with the money when they will be planning on keeping it. If they run a charity auction then fair play but I wouldn't say it is right to profit for personal gain off an Olympic torch. The woman quoted on the BBC article comes from a town only 20 mins from me.

Most of the people receiving these are charity champions, they give up things of personal worth to help others... Selling these torches is just another example.
