Wii U Nintendo Direct Pre E3 Presentation

A rather drawn out and sedate presentation from Iwata, it does show some interesting things about WiiU, but no games and no specs.

Only a few days till the full E3 bizzle though, which should hopefully showcase some interesting stuff from all 3.

    For comparison:

In the video it was mentioned that it would be great for "longer periods of play" and for multiplatform titles.

I'm not exactly sure how this helps multiplatform titles since I'd assume they'd have to develop something to show up on the screen...or perhaps the touch screen would display the Wii U OS messaging system if no "game signal" is sent to the pad?

    Crazy stuff!

edit: Also noted was that the Nunchuck, Wii Remote and Wii Balance Board will also be officially supported by the Wii U.

the pro controller design surely must raise a few eyebrows, I mean there aint anything original in the 360 pad but the similarities between em are a little 'close'. Maybe nintendo see it as stealing back their ideas.

It should be a good thing that they are promoting it though, if they want 3rd parties to bring games to all three consoles in almost identical form, they need identical controls. With the wii I think they expected 3rd parties to make the effort to adapt games to suit the wii remote, but that was rare in reality.
