Default Hard drive failure and iTunes/iPad

Well it's pretty rough weather out here in the north sea and my laptop took a trip off the desk when the ship turned and hit a wave. Needless to say it doesn't respond now. Startup is sluggish, doesn't display any icons in the start menu, and take ages to do things. I ran all the relevant program's to try and fix it but it ain't playing ball, so I've just went ahead and ordered a new HD.

Luckily enough I have 95% of all the important photos, documents etc backed up onto my hard drive, with the exception of tv series which can be downloaded again...

Now when the new HD comes and I reinstall windows and all my program's, my concern is with iTunes.

I'm pretty sure this happened to me once before when I had an iPhone and when I resynced I lost all the info and data on it. Is there a process I should follow when attaching my iPad to a fresh copy of iTunes? Ie, transfer purchases first? What of my music and photos? Seeing as those folders don't exist anymore on my laptops new HD, how do I go about getting iTunes to retransfer everything back over to my laptop without losing everything?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Using Tapatalk won't allow me to post anywhere else without an icon,.....

Did you copy the iTunes folder from my music or do you just have the tunes? If you have the entire folder it will have all the playlists in tact so install iTunes, launch it for the first time then overwrite the iTunes folder with yours.

You can connect your new iTunes to your apple account to download purchased apps again.

When you connect a device click it then go to the photos tab, enable syncing and select the folder where your photos are.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a backup of the music, no playlists saved etc, i tried but it seems thats part ofmthe corrupt hardndrive now. Somi have the music just what's on my iPad. So,I'll have to rip them back off as mentioned above.

    So basically

    Reinstall iTunes

Right click and backup device and transfer purchases

Rip music off, place into music folder, and resync

Do the same for the photos? (I'll probably transfer all my photos to the pc using the photo sync app or something like that, before I launch iTunes to be on the safe side)

    Anything else I've forgotten?
