It looks like Nikkei was right and Miyamoto was lying!
That's right. Nintendo has announced the new 3DS XL, which of course, will feature larger screens. And nope, NO SECOND ANALOG PAD!
The system's top screen is 4.88 inches, giving an extra 90% view area. The lower screen is now 4.18 inches, also providing an extra 90% view area.
The new 3DS will have longer battery life (6-10 hours), but an AC adapter won't be included with the system in order to keep costs down (it will be available for purchase separately). Adapters from previous Nintendo hardware will be compatible.
The system will be available on 7/28 for 18,900 yen in Japan (same release date as NSMB2).
Also, NOA has confirmed that the system will be launching in the West and will retail for $199.99. It will be released on August 19th (also, the same date as NSMB2. It will include a 4GB SD card AND the AC adapter (Japan is doing their own thing regarding that).
Similar price/release date should be expected for Europe.
