Fucking Wank.

Mainly through my own stupidity, bought a SGIII from an SII.

Arrived today and realised it needed a Micro Sim. Last time I tried to cut one up for iPad I lost a £5er on the sim deal Ha!

Utter wank idea, save space somewhere else! I don't go fucking Micro.

Now I can't use my SgIII till o2 send one out in 3-5 days!!! (can't get to a o2 shop for a week)

In all fairness, why do we need a fucking sim card? In an era of cloud storage, phone storage, wifi back ups and what not, why?

Why can't we log on to the network with a unique one time pin, that registers that device to the network?

2 devices can't have the same number. there would be a risk you would be logged in on more than one. I for one would love this ability though and can't wait for it.

It would make the telephone number (as in a number you ring to reach a person) obsolete. Tech heads are ready for this but ordinary users aren't imho.

Mobiles used to have the identifying numbers programmed into them and not easily changeable before the days of sim cards.

Problem was in the end, people sussed out how to record the analogue phone calls, then you could replay the bleeps at the beginning to set the call up to a pager to decode the numbers, then you could manually enter these into your own phone if you knew what to do - this would hijack someone else's account.

I've done this in different ways:

1. Back in about 97-98 I lost a phone and ordered a replacement sim. Told the operator not to block the original sim in case I found the phone which I did - I ended up with 2 live sim's on the same account at the same time for about 2-3 weeks till the original went dead - both phones would ring at the same time! I think this must have been a random cock up/fluke.

2. I've got a sip server at home and hooked my mobile up to it. So if I get a call on my home landline, it also rings on the mobile provided I've got internet. Could hook up multiple mobiles and they can call out using the same line if I set the server up to do so.

So why can't you cut it? Didn't follow what happened last time but cutting is easy and you can get an adapter to make it a normal sim again. I bought a micro sim stamp to save time as I was cutting them quite regularly. It is a pain in the arse though having different sizes.

Cutting it does work, but I simply phoned Three, told them I needed a Micro Sim and they sent one through. I had it within 2 days. Called them up and they transferred my number to it.

I took mine to the 3 shop today to chop mine. Are you not near a carphone warehouse rather than an O2 store to chop it for you?

As I made a fuck up chopping it last time, but couldn't wait, did it before and after retrimming three times, it works
