Microsoft Lists the First Wave of Windows 8 Xbox LIVE Games

One of the promises with the next version of Microsoft Windows is the integration of Xbox LIVE functionality into the OS itself. Microsoft has used the past year to merge their operating systems, Xbox console, mobile platform and productivity apps to form a more cohesive and consistent whole. The new Games app in Windows 8 gives the user a place to store and purchase games; edit and monitor their avatar; interact socially with other gamers and keep track of their gamer points and achievements.

Of course this is all well and good, but none of this will come to fruition without a hearty and ever-evolving catalog of games for the platform. Today, we got a glimpse of what Xbox LIVE gaming on Windows 8 will be.



Microsoft has detailed the very first wave of Xbox LIVE Windows 8 games. The games will be available on October 26th through the*Windows 8 games app. This list is just an initial push of Xbox LIVE-enabled with more to come through the holiday season.

For just an initial list, this is a pretty impressive list of kick-off games for Windows 8. Not to mention all of the great indie games we are likely to see from devs in the Windows Store.

Does anyone know if games purchased on a PC through XBox Live be available to play on my xbox and visa versa?

They need to sort out how your XBOXLive account is linked to your Windows 8 account. When I first set mine up I signed into Windows 8 using my new Outlook account. It automatically created a US Live account and a random XBOX Gamertag. When I tried to sign into Live in the Games App it kept asking me to change my region to US as its impossible to change the region of the Gamertag. So i've to wait 30 days before I can transfer my liveseytowers gamer tag to my Outlook account. Stupid really
