    Default Dish setup problem

Me and a mate decided to try and install a motorised satellite system and are having a few problems. Following the guides we are pretty sure all the angles are correct and the pole the dish is coming off is spot on but the receiver isnt getting a strong signal. Its using a 1m dish, spiderbox 9000hd. Anybody know anyone that could help out in the manchester area (sale moor)?

I am nowhere near... But.... What is your issue exactly?

Are you getting a strong signal on 1w?

Did you set your latitude and longitude correctly?

    Default Dish setup problem

Everything seems to give between 50-57 on the signal strength. All the long and lat settings seem fine. Im wondering if there is a problem with the lnb.

So... Your reference satellite, which I assume is 0.8w, is only giving you 50-57? If so, that could point to a faulty lnb, or you need to adjust the dish. I assume you have a lock on a satellite? As my tester gives 50-57 when it is completely out of alignment and pointing at the ground.

Your motor setup, and plumb pole will only come into play during the arc. So if your reference satellite was strong, and others were slightly out the further down the arc you went, then I would say you should check the motor and pole.

First thing to do which is imperative is to make sure the bracket attached to the wall is 100% level, both verticality and horizontally. I had this prob, and realised my bracket wasn't plumb.
TAR seems to be a decent bloke!

You will still be able to pick up your reference satellite though, even with a pole that isn't plumb.

Either the lnb, or the alignment. When I first setup a dish with a motor, myself and Beerman spent about 4 hours searching for a signal on 0.8W. We could find Sky easily, but not Thor... Then it clicked...

Do you know the meter works?
    What type is it?

Anyway as per the above if the bracket is 100% straight and the pole is straight all round then you should find something, check that the motor, dish is setup correctly and if thats ok and still nothing suspect the LNB.

    Default Dish setup problem

All sorted now, it was a faulty lnb. Gutted as we had everything setup fine and a pro came round had a look. 80 for him to diagnose and replace the faulty lnb. Fair price tbh, just a shame it was faulty as we hadnt done bad.
