Both ComingSoon and TrekMovie bring word that the Star Trek sequel will go by the name Star Trek Into Darkness. Paramount recently registered the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com which gave the game away. The title suggests some serious space stuff is about to go down.

Earlier this year writer/producer Damon Lindelof spoke about choosing the title and their desire to avoid colons used by all the pre-reboot movies as “everything that people are turned off about when it comes to ‘Trek’ is represented by the colon.” With Star Trek Into Darkness there’s no colon in sight, so it’s clear they’ve followed through with their anti-colon agenda.

Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho are all returning, along with new additions Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the villain, the identity of which still needs confirmation despite a lot of speculation over recent months.
The sequel will be released by Paramount on May 17th, 2013.
