Help Annoying Windows 7 Critical Stop elusive sound....

Ok so as some of you know I bought an Acer Revo 3600, shoved a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on there. Running 4GB of ram now.

The only apps I have running on the system are :

    Sickbeard
    CouchPotato
    Sabnzbd
    XBMC
    Firefox
    Avast
    Teamviewer
    Spashtop Remote Desktop (ipad)

Every so often I get this annoying critical stop sound, with no error message appearing. Its getting annoying and to the point where Im just going to replace the default sound with a blank soundless wav file.

Anyone know what could be the issue?

    Its this sound here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo8lPECCSXU

have you looked at the "event log" to see what faults are occurring m8.

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?

Best to find out what it is as it could cause problems later on.
I reckon it's a Scheduled Task failing for some reason. Try looking at the status of the Task Scheduler in

All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Task Scheduler

Not a lot of information is available from there, but getting a list up to see the scheduled task's should give you a clue to what it is.
This could be a Scheduled Malware Program that is being forced to 'Stop' by Avast, Malwarebytes (Install it!) or Windows Defender.

I noticed you said you have TeamViewer installed.
I can take a look if you like?

Is your Windows genuine? It could be the "This copy of Windows is not genuine" message that pops up every so often on un-activated Windows 7. You can miss the pop up message if you're running a full screen app but you will hear the sound.

If your Windows is activated and legit then ignore everything I just said

Not a fix I know, but for what you are using the Revo for I'd have gone for a Ubuntu install.

Totally agree, XBMCBuntu + Revo = Awesomeness.

All the programs you mention CMG were originally designed for 'buntu and have been ported to Windows.

    No Probs.

Had a poke around on CMG's Revo, but nothing out of the ordinary (Chipset drivers downloaded and installed).

Event Log is clean, nothing found after Malwarebytes Scan and Scheduler is empty.

He says it may have stopped now (before I looked), but gonna keep an ear on it if it starts whinging again and note time and date it does.
    Very strange indeed.

    --EDIT
You sure it was the Revo making the noise and not your laptop? Or another PC in the house!? lol

    --EDIT2
Also, have you had any download failures?
It might be the CRC check failing from SabNZBd, doing it in the background (not that I've heard of it doing that before though)

no it was def the revo. at first i thought it was a RAM issue (before i installed the 4gb kit), and that the system was being pushed to the max on 1gb RAM, but it continued to happen even after i installed the 4GB kit.

will keep an ear on it as you say, not heard anything today, which is annoying as it happened every day for the past 4 days! sods law eh?
