Please remember what section this is and if you are unsure on the section rules please read them.
My opinion on this is it's too late guilty or not, you didn't speak up or get action before then live with it you have for 40 years plus already and even if what is being said is true there is no way now to get justice, all it will do now is harm people who had nothing to do with it and for the ones coming forward now with claims they knew what was going on or saw things and never said anything I don't know how you sleep at night.

Well, if they were abused they probably don't sleep very well at all.
Fir those that weren't abused but knew something was up, I agree 100%
Jimmy Saville won't be seeing justice if it's true, as he's dead. So I agree there.
But if, as has been suggested in this thread, he was the ring leader of a paedophile circle which included Politicians and celebrities. Then an investigation should be started and those still living should face charges.

it's too late because he's dead, speak out 2 years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago don't wait until he's dead it's pointless as he can't be held to account, I am not condemning people for speaking out I am condemning them for NOT speaking out and more so some of the low life slime balls like Paul Gambaccini not seeing anything wrong about speaking out now but saying fuck all when it mattered, the same goes for others like few ex producers etc saying how they knew this and that well the should have done something THEN.
So what happens now we have a program to entertain the public nothing more, there can't be any resolution or conviction as he is dead and not able to defend himself so all this is ever going to be is a topic for conversation that's it.

the problem was the climate of fear and not only from children but adults too, jimmy saville knew a lot about many people including top police officers. they were too scared to report this for fear of what would happen to them

Well shame on them then because I am sure as fuck NOTHING would have stopped me speaking out if I knew someone was abusing children and I think we are really saying they put there careers before the safety of innocent children and the previous victims also knew by not speaking out he would continue to abuse.
i dont think it would be just a case of looking after their career, that would have been part of it but they were probably looking after on e of their own too. it stinks m8 and just shows how corrupt some of our so called police officers are, same with judges politicians and so on.

Of course as I said previously in this thread:
The reality is this is treated as a very minor and unimportant crime, the Government loses no money because of it's existence, no big business revenue is harmed because of it, important and powerful people are often involved in it, the police force is one of the occupations known to attract paedophi1es and it can often be used to force through unpopular legislation in the name of stopping paedophi1es, kiddy porn etc etc.
I see no more than entertainment coming out of this so people can debate did he or didn't he and the police time now being spent on it through media pressure no doubt distracting and cutting into the tiny budget put aside for child abuse investigations. You might think I am being hard on people coming forward now but these people if they are being totally honest have to also take responsibility for the fact that by not speaking out any time in the last 40 years they allowed more to be abused.
Am I missing something or can someone actually tell me something positive that will/could come out of this?
Saw Esther Rantzen on the news (i think its a clip from tonight's program) saying that she saw one of the teenage girls on his Jimmy saville's lap and he was kissing her. Esther Rantzen is the founder of Childline, and yet she waits until now to mention this? (">
Some of this reminds me of the rumours that were being spread after we invaded Iraq. The rumours surrounded operation ore and some high ranking labour MPs who were supposedly on the list. This was then used as leverage by the US administration to force Blair to back the invasion. Of course, many said it was a conspiracy theory, but what's coming out now would suggest it's hardly that far fetched.
Gotta be honest.... thought he was the creepiest perv I ever saw and that was when I was about 12..... and no I never met him.. he was just pure sleaze to me

People are not defending him but the rule of law and rights that we should ALL have to be innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law. How would it be if someone started spreading all sorts of nasty rumours about YOU which got picked up by the Press. Let's just wait and see shall we, all the pointless speculation and Macho posturing is BS.
Again I agree... but this is not a court of law but a forum where people can voice their opinions.. and I voiced mine!!!!
Yes if this was court what a fuckin shambles it would be but thank fuck it is not... it is a place for people to discuss and learn and excahnge opinions IMHO
