Jimmy Savile's autobiography shock as pages reveal orgies, naked groupies and furious parents
SCOTLAND'S newspaper tracked down the only copy of the book for sale in the UK, in which Savile discusses his X-rated adventures.
JIMMY Savile admitted to a string of relationships with young women and teenagers in his autobiography Love is an Uphill Thing.
The Daily Record tracked down the only copy of the paperback on sale ?in the UK to a specialist bookseller in Pitlochry.
Ann Bartle, boss of Glacier Books, in the Perthshire town, parted with the last copy for £4 yesterday.
The late DJ and Jim’ll Fix It host is at the centre of a storm after claims of child abuse and inappropriate behaviour in an ITV documentary last night.
His 184-page book is littered with examples of one night stands and relationships with young women he had during his career.
In one example, Savile – who died last October aged 84 – describes an encounter with a young runaway from a remand home who was being hunted by the police.
He said: “A high-ranking lady police officer came in one night and showed me a picture of an attractive girl who had run away from a remand home.
“‘Ah,’ says I all serious, ‘if she comes in I’ll bring her back tomorrow but I’ll keep her all night first as my reward’.” Savile describes how the girl came to one of his dances that evening and stayed the night with him before he handed her over.
He added: “The officeress was dissuaded from bringing charges against me by her colleagues for it was well known that were I to go, I would probably take half the station with me.”
On another occasion, he asked organisers of a charity event to choose a group of young girls to spend the night camping with him after the disco.
He said: “Six girls were selected and all of them were given matching mini-skirts and white boots. They looked good enough to eat. The first thing was that the father of one of the girls arrived and hauled her off home. She protested loudly but dad would have none of this preposterous situation.”
He describes another encounter with a young girl in his E-type Jaguar on a stormy seafront
Savile explains: “The inside of an E-type is not over capacious and just now seemed to be full of wet body, long black hair, legs and bikini panties.
“Apparently she had been sitting in a car down at the barrier with her parents, seen me go through, jumped out, run along the sea road and here she was.
“Such a start had to mean a good night.” He added: “Should the reader feel that her folks appear unconcerned, you would not believe the stories I might tell you about some parents.”
Savile describes being caught naked in his caravan with another gaggle of young groupies. He wrote: “The heat of the albeit innocent night had caused the girls to shed the majority of their day clothes. In some cases all.
“We all resembled some great human octopus. Again the knock.
“One of the girls rose from the human pile like Venus. Peering out of the curtain she became rigid with fright.
“‘It’s my mother and father,’ she hissed. There was a silent movie pandemonium. Escape was uppermost in my mind but that was impossible.”
In one of the most telling sections, Savile describes how six groupies once spent the night with him and his minder at a flat.
The following morning, while the DJ was on a bike ride, two of the youngsters’ furious mothers knocked on the door.
Savile claimed his bodyguard hid in the wardrobe while the girls dealt with their parents. He said: “I train my men well and, to date, we have not been found out. Which, after all, is the 11th commandment, is it not?”
The astonishing revelations in the book came as a rape claim made against the eccentric was referred to Scotland Yard. The allegation was reported to Surrey Police and is now being looked at by the Met to see if an investigation will be launched.
Jersey and Surrey police both looked into ?accusations against the ?entertainer about abuse in two children’s homes but decided there was not enough evidence to proceed.
In 2007, Surrey Police received an allegation of indecent assault that was alleged to have taken place at a children’s home in Staines during the 1970s.
The force said: “The allegation was investigated and an individual was ?interviewed under caution.
“The matter was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service, who advised there was insufficient evidence to take any further action.”
IN the late 70s, Fiona Black was a junior reporter for the Kilmarnock Standard and was asked to find Savile, who was staying in Glasgow.
Fiona – now a PR consultant – was delighted when she tracked him down to the Central Hotel but found the encounter very uncomfortable – particularly when Savile offered to jump into bed to pose for a picture.
She said: “It was at the height of his Jim’ll Fix It fame and he was the biggest name I had ever interviewed, if you could call it an interview.
“I was well chuffed to get an exclusive when I tracked him down to Glasgow’s Central Hotel – and he was only too happy to let a young blonde reporter into his room and share his bed.
“My abiding memory was I was really glad I had a photographer with me. He was undoubtedly a showman and was all for posing in bed – but his conversation was peppered with innuendo and he made me feel distinctly uncomfortable.
“Nothing inappropriate happened but I was glad when we left his room.
“More than anything, he struck me as a lonely man who hid behind a facade of fame and if this was what celebrity was like I was glad I didn’t have it.”
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...
Initially I could see two sides to this, being: i) that the alleged victims deserve some sort of resolution or closure ii) what is the point, the guy is dead and isn't here to defend himself, so it's not fair.
I couldn't decide between the two, but then figured that the police should be picking their battles. The police are always reporting about reduced resources and various risks to service and the public and such....and if that is the case, then investigating a dead guy, where no charges or punishment will ever be brought, should not be a priority.

I also think MJ was a ped0. Any parent who allows their children to stay at his house, as they did, should be prosecuted for child abuse.
Well I watched it, and yes it does seem to point the finger at him. I think his autobiography is as damning too! He seemed to be a strange guy anyway
For those that didnt get to see it and wanted to -

Looks like his family have finally come to terms with his guilt
Jimmy Savile's headstone removed from Scarborough cemetery
The gravestone of Sir Jimmy Savile is to be sent to a landfill after being removed from a Scarborough cemetery.
His family said they requested the removal of the headstone "out of respect to public opinion" following allegations he sexually abused girls.
Scotland Yard is pursuing 120 lines of inquiry and there could be 30 victims.
The triple headstone was removed from Woodlands Cemetery overnight to avoid a "circus" and will now be destroyed, funeral director Robert Morphet said.
Mr Morphet, from Joseph A Hey and Son, said Savile's family had made the decision because of "the impact the stone remaining there could have on the dignity and sanctity of the cemetery".
Mr Morphet, who organised Savile's funeral and oversaw the dismantling of the headstone, said: "We felt the most dignified way to do it would be discreetly, quietly and while it was dark. It took us about an hour-and-a-half to take the stone down and take it away."
He said it was removed in three pieces and taken away on a lorry.
"We felt that it was the appropriate thing to do and in the event I think we've made the right decision," Mr Morphet said.
The headstone, which was inscribed with the epitaph "It Was Good While It Lasted" and verses composed by a family friend, will now be destroyed.
"We've taken it back to our yard in Leeds. We'll grind the inscription off and we will dispose of the memorial. It'll be broken up and just go to landfill," Mr Morphet said.
Savile had a long association with Scarborough and was buried there after his death, aged 84, in October 2011.
The Jim'll Fix It and Top Of The Pops presenter was buried in a gold coffin at a 45-degree angle at the cemetery, facing the sea, at his own request.
The coffin was later encased in concrete as a "security measure" amid speculation about its contents.
The grave, which overlooks the sea, would remain unmarked for the moment, Mr Morphet added.
"When we erected his headstone not three weeks ago I expected it to be here forever. I never thought it'd be removed, let alone so quickly.
"Once the outcome of the investigation has taken place then I guess Savile's family will sit down and think about what is the appropriate memorial, if any at all," he said.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police said it was pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry after recording eight allegations against the Leeds-born entertainer, including two accusations of rape.
The investigation follows claims made about the BBC broadcaster in an ITV documentary last week.
Mark Williams Thomas, a former child protection expert who presented the programme, told the BBC a number of women had contacted him since the programme was broadcast.
"I have had a significant number that have come direct to me and are on top of the numbers the police have spoken about.
"That is both people who have given me information about Jimmy Savile over the last 50 years as well as victims who have given me horrific accounts of their abuse," he said.
BBC Director General George Entwistle has promised a "comprehensive examination" of the allegations concerning Savile's time at the corporation.
The removal of the headstone comes days after a footpath sign in Scarborough commemorating Savile was taken down by the borough council.
A plaque outside his flat in Scarborough was also removed last week after the words "rapist" and "paedophile" were written on it.
David Jeffels, chairman of the Sir Jimmy Savile Memorial Steering Group, which was established in Scarborough after his death, said: "There has been great sadness and almost disbelief in Scarborough that this could have happened.
"Genuinely I don't think anyone on the committee had any idea that these allegations were going to be made or that they existed but I fully accept that so many women have come forward it must be a case of there being 'no smoke without fire' I am afraid."
Leeds City Council has taken Savile's name off an inscription on a wall commemorating high profile citizens at the city's Civic Hall.
