I think we all know the probable outcome here. Doesn't matter who is to blame, there will be a lot of people whose lives will never be same.

Not looking too good at all. I hope that other parents who are thick-headed take a long good look as the why's and reasons you don't let little kids of this age play out and about with no parental supervision, regardless of it being middle of a summers day or late.

the parents are scum for letting a 5 yr old girl play out 1: that far from home and 2: at that time of night.

if anything bad has happened to her they ought to be charged with child neglect.
police are now concentrating their efforts on the river, it looks like hes parked his van up near the bridge and dumped the body in the river and then started to walk away. - this is only a guess at the minute and only the police and him know for sure but its not coincidence him parking near a bridge over a fast flowing river. it shows a guilty man to me.

UPDATE: A man arrested in connection with the abduction of April Jones was known to ---
Police are also looking at whether April’s abduction is linked to another attempted abduction in the Aberystwyth area around one week ago.

It comes as police confirmed that they were also looking closely at the movements of known registered sex offenders living in the area.

It is also understood that the man being questioned is known to April’s family but is not a relation.

While I wouldn't let my 5 five year old boy out of my sight, it's a bit quick of us to judge what happened here. We only know what has been reported, of which there are conflicting reports. We should also be aware that there isn't a lecherous paedophile on every corner waiting to pounce on our kids, no matter what the press would have you believe.

I also know many, many parents who don't look after their kids who haven't been abducted. When I was younger my brother was at the park with my mum in what was probably the early 90s. She spotted a little boy on his own who was 3 years old. No parents. Nothing. He didn't know where he lived and his mum was apparently at home. My mum looked for his parents for a while, then brought him home and called the police. The police managed to find his parents details and returned him home. His mum was less than happy with my mum. A couple of months later he was at the park alone again. I doubt this is an isolated case country wide, I think the parents of this April were very unlucky. However, my boy means more to me than life itself, I'd rather be safe than sorry, so it will be a good few years until he is allowed out the front of the house on his own. My step son is only allowed 5 minutes from the house now and he's in secondary school... And even then I track his mobile phone a lot of the time.

According to Sky News, the suspect split up with his girlfriend last week of 11 months. He worked at the local leisure centre as a lifeguard.
Also one if his children were out playing with the little girl before she was abducted.

Also before we judge the parents, how do we know she wasn't at a friends house? She was still in her school blouse, she could have gone round there straight from school etc

dannyboy your kidding right? how can we judge the parents? they are untimately responsible for the health and safe being of their children regardless of who has them. any decent parent and human being would have been out looking for them long before this, in fact any proper decent parent would not have let this happen period.

the parents are scum, i feel sorry for the little kid.

    A strong statement

I don't allow my kids to play in the street girls of 7 and 10 on the rare occasion I do allow to scooter up and down the road ( boundaries set) I make my girls check in to me every 10 mins .

I try and keep an eye on them 90% of time when this treat is allowed but ,a BIG but weather I like iit or not my eldest is growing up she knows right from wrong and all the usuall pervert warnings.

She wants independence and wants to show me she's trustworthy.......A natural thing as you get into adolescence ?....

At the end of the day I would not let a 5 year old play in the street on her own without supervision , But what is the RIGHT AGE for a child to play unsupervised in he own street with friends?????????????

    Thanks to Mr Men

Well first off 5 IS definitely too young and secondly she was not on her own street. I agree with DET. The parents should be done for neglect. There is NO excuse.

When will people and the media start to hold the parents accountable for these things? How many children left alone have to be abducted before the parents are held partly accountable, if a sick fuck is going to snatch a child they are going to do it regardless. the parents of these children are just helping them by putting them in harms way.

mr men, in the case of a ped0 in the family/relative and family friend the kids let their guard down believing them to be safe.

Me and Miss Men were speaking about this earlier, In the cas of a family member committing this sort of shit....surely they would have history, sex offenders register

If thats the case how do you hide that from your family circle and if your not on the register than as far as i can see its still a bolt of lightining from a Family circle.....Un-controllable det m8
