Bedford couple unwittingly grow cannabis

An elderly couple have unwittingly grown the "biggest cannabis plant" police officers had seen after buying what they thought was a shrub from a car boot sale.




An officer tweeted it was the biggest cannabis plant they had seen


The couple, who live in Bedford, had planted the drug in their garden.


Police officers were astounded when they spotted the plant. They have collected it and a spokesperson said it would be disposed of.
The couple will face no action from the police.


The officers took to their @bedfordlpt Twitter account to express their surprise at the find, saying: "Seized today. Elderly couple bought shrub at car boot sale, tended carefully - biggest cannabis plant we had seen!!"

With the summer we have had I doubt it ever got past the vegging stage, if that had flowered you would have smelt it a mile off!

I know outdoor plants can grow massive - seen a few like that in a mate's garden some years ago but I've never grown any myself so dunno precisely the effects our so called summer could have had.

They can grow outdoors, check out this article in the local rag from a couple of years ago. These were found at the side of the road. They were apparently left there and forgotten about and some grew upto 8ft! Can only assume whoever left them there got put away and couldnt get back to them.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but cannabis actually grows very easily, it's the varieties that are used for drugs that need special attention. That the article says the couple will face no action seems to me to mean that it would be useless as a drug.

Bird seed often has cannabis seeds in, I knew someone who had a load growing in their garden from sprinkling the seeds on to the lawn.

To be honest I didn't realize they grew so well outdoors until last year when I popped over to visit my dad near the black mountains in South Wales. Found him out the back tending to his special garden. Hes just telling me to put the kettle on and he'll be with me in two minutes: (">
