Sounds like your being capped due to the FUP, although I'm on 100mb and when I get capped I can still pull through around 3-5mb a sec from newsgroups, but I don't really download large files in the daytime I leave em going overnight so it doesn't affect my speeds in the day.

You will be able to cancel your contract upto 30 days after install (IIRC) without any cancellation charges, but check the website as I'm going from memory.

I signed up for the 60mb & after 3 & half weeks cancelled it. The best speed I achieved was 19mb, I was constantly on the phone moaning and gave up in the end. Now back with sky and more than happy with my 14mb from them.

I've been on 60Meg for a couple of weeks and get 6MB downloads on Newsgroups all day long using SSL ports. I've not tried a file bigger than 10GB though but its been perfect for me. I know Virgin have a FUP which affects Newsgroups but the speeds you are getting suggest that there is a fault somewhere.

rang up to cancel and was told the cap is now worked on if you download 12gig you are capped for the next 2 hours (on 100 meg anyway), anyway after checking with the teckies there is a prob in my area (not sure if they meant my cab or blackburn as a whole ) I had only downloaded 9g so was not capped. they said there was parts ordered to fix the prob but could take a month or 2 to sort so I managed to cancel since I was in my cooling off period. He said the b/band would go off straightaway but strangely hasnt. ill give it a week then ring again to make sure it really is cancelled.
