Help Sky too expensive.need a cheaper alternative

Cancelling sky in december as the price is just shocking.

I got 2 kids that's like the children's channel and I like the footy so is there other than streaming a cheaper alternative.

    Cheers.

    Freeview and stream sport online.

Or find a card share and buy a dreambox. No further info allowed regarding that.

    Well, it will work.

I don't know anyone yet to borrow a subscription/account from yet.

I set my own account up, but I cannot seem to buy a subscription any less than a year. I also got the app working on my iPhone, so when I get some account/login details and connect phone to a TV I'm sure it will be bingo.

I had a look at signing up but I can't work out how to do it for free on my android phone, i'll need some sort or middle eastern VPN service I think.

Dunno if ADMC Sports do an Android app TBH.

And even if you got it, you would still be in the same boat as me.

There's an apk for it but it's not available on the android market for some reason.

Have you looked into XBMC and then get the video plugins like, Navi-X, one channel, etc - although this is streaming content mainly, useless you also dl stuff. I have a std sky package but then watch a lot of other stuff on the XMBC. You can load it up on your PC to tinker around with it but it is pretty easy, my wife has got into it and watch loads of stuff before it hits the UK. I use an Apple TV2 with a jailbreak on it, and i've just bought a Raspberry PI my plan is to set this up for the kids. Another thing to try may be Netflix, it's only 5.99 a month but my kids love it. Plus give it a trial for free for the first month. Just thinking about it sign up to Groupon and every couple of months or so lovefilm so a six month trial for about 10 quid.

    Thanks to Larrylakes

drop the tv service altogether and go for a combination of netflix and xbmc

If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

    Another vote for XBMC.
I have a MythTV setup, with two DVB-S cards and one DVB-T card.
This gives us FreeView and FreeSat.
We have two proper TV's both with Revo's attached. Both of these run MythTV and XBMC.
All other laptops and PC's also have MythTV and XBMC.
Using 1Channel, SportsDevil, NaviX, iPlayer, 4OD and Demand 5 in XBMC means we can pretty much watch what we want when we want.
There is not a TV show yet that I have not been able to watch.

NZB's for all the kids stuff you want and then use omfgstreams.com for footy etc..
Signed up for them at the weekend for a month to try and it is as good as it was when it was Flash Sports Streams.

Just got a Samsung Series 8 TV and got Freesat HD (built in) - It has a web browser that plays flash and omfgstreams fine ! Bonus really as no server/Apple TV etc... needed in the TV as it does it all. I cannot recommend it enough.

Another vote for XBMC - the interface beats any "on-demand" service. Tried to watch something through Sky on demand and the download failed 3 times - shoddy!

I have Linux XBMC flashed on a standalone sumvision player that I got for £50 at ebuyer. Works quite well, only really use naviX and mashup on it. Seriously thinking about ditching sky now.
