    Default Dbox2 and freeview terrestial

    Evening all!
I still have an old nokia dbox2 kicking around and my parents are having problems
With their freeview box. They only have freeview, not cable or satellite. Can they just plug the dbox into their home aerial and get some freeview channels? I am missing the dbox remote so cant actually scan for channels currently myself until i work out if its going to work...

    Thanks in advance

Nope. DBoxes are paper weights these days.

DBoxes run on DVB-C (Cable) which is now finally locked down. Freeview is DVB-T (Terrestrial). 2 completely different technologies.
I would suggest looking into DVB-S (Satellite) or FreeSat/Sky Sub if Freeview is not enough.

I'm not sure I understand "With their freeview box. They only have freeview,"
I think that's the point and Sky's selling angle.

    Thanks to DejaVu

I am not 100% on this but when it went over to the new codes you could still see the free to air channels. This was over 3 years ago so probably has changed now

    Thanks to Mickey

well I plugged in the old dbox, got a bit excited when I saw it load the image and memories came flooding back of flashing sportster, commando images etc hundreds of times! But as it should, it wants to scan for channels and of course since the remote has been lost there is no way I can do it unless somebody knows how on DF. You only have the standby button and channel up/down on the unit itself. Remotes are about £5.50 on ebay but not sure if its even worth it!!!!

There's no point, the tuner in a cable dbox won't pick up freeview.

    I've got 4 Nokia DBox2's here. I also have a Eurovox EX7000+ HD Box.
    They won't sell. Trust me.

You could try flogging them back to the Germans, but they are no longer shifting over there either. They must be locked to N3 now too.
