Default GPU Heatsink re-do Nvidia GTX 280 OC

My gpu is overheating and i am having to downgrade the gpu and memory on it by about 5% to stop it overheating and crashing the pc. does anyone in the Leeds/ west Yorkshire area know of anyone that will take GPU off clean it up and add more paste and how much do they charge?

Ive seen my card on ebay for only £80 so it might not be worth doing, unless you know someone reliable and cheap

    Regards as always

Ohh it works ok only if i dont play games and running gpu-z or fanspeed tells me that it stays around the 40 centigrade mark. I got all the fans and everything trying to keep it cooled. i also got the side case off but to no avail.

It should be very straightforward mate, look at the card and see how the heatsink is locked in place, if you can get it off all you need to do is clean up both surfaces using a cotton wool bud, isopropanyl alcohol, make sure its dry and apply a thin layer of Artic Silver Thermal 5 then reassemble.

I know mate. but my eye sight isnt what it was. my card is a BFG OC 280. so ive downgraded it to the stock 280s and it seemed to be fine. no noticeable degradation of gaming power.

    I been useing a software called Pression - x
    http://www.evga.com/precision/

Its a cracking piece of Software that lets you control the Nvidia cards with tweaks and things and its free

So not sure what to do with the card. neen on ebay and there is Nvidia 450s on there for about £50 i just need to decide on upgrading slightly or keeping this one or getting it re-fixed

If it looks like a straightforward removal I will give it a shot for you if you cover postage but I wouldn't want to break a retention pin. Can you take a photo of the retention mechanism for me? Some cards have heatinks that curl round the back making it impossible to remove the heatsink without breaking some clips.
