Reality Boy writes letter to LEGO after losing minifigure, gets awesome response

Thought to share this, because I thought it's pretty awesome.

Boy writes letter to LEGO after losing minifigure, gets awesome response

Luka Apps (Credit: http://twitter.com/lukaapps)By Mike Krumboltz

Seven-year-old Luka Apps spent his Christmas money on the LEGO Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider set. A sound investment, if you ask us. But the thing about LEGOs -- those small pieces are easy to lose. They don't call 'em minifigures for nothing.
Against his father's recommendation, young Luka took his newly procured Jay ZX shopping. And then, wouldn't you know it, the figure went missing, never to be seen again.
Luka, not one to admit defeat, decided to write a letter to the good people at LEGO seeking a replacement.

    ITV News has Luka's letter:
    Hello.
My name is Luka Apps and I am seven years old.
With all my money I got for Christmas I bought the Ninjago kit of the Ultrasonic Raider. The number is 9449. It is really good.
My Daddy just took me to Sainsburys and told me to leave the people at home but I took them and I lost Jay ZX at the shop as it fell out of my coat.
I am really upset I have lost him. Daddy said to send you a email to see if you will send me another one.
I promise I won't take him to the shop again if you can.
    – Luka
A short time later, Luka received a reply from Richard, a LEGO customer service representative. Richard wrote that he had spoken to Sensei Wu, a master from the Ninjago line.
Luka, I told Sensei Wu that losing your Jay minifigure was purely an accident and that you would never ever ever let it happen ever again.
He told me to tell you, "Luka, your father seems like a very wise man. You must always protect your Ninjago minifigures like the dragons protect the Weapons of Spinjitzu!"
Sensei Wu also told me it was okay if I sent you a new Jay and told me it would be okay if I included something extra for you because anyone that saves their Christmas money to buy the Ultrasonic Raider must be a really big Ninjago fan.
So, I hope you enjoy your Jay minifigure with all his weapons. You will actually have the only Jay minifigure that combines 3 different Jays into one! I am also going to send you a bad guy for him to fight!
Just remember, what Sensei Wu said: keep your minifigures protected like the Weapons of Spinjitzu! And of course, always listen to your dad.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how companies score lifelong customers.

A friends son, also 7, wrote to head office in Sweden recently (good 'ol pen and paper) telling them he loved Lego so much that he wanted to work for them when he leaves school.

They responded with details of who to contact should he ever visit Sweden in order to have a tour of the place and also told him that they look forward to working with them in the future.

Very good PR dept although you can only see this getting abused now with people trying to get shit for free.

His mum said Sweden? Might have been the address on something he bought.
Went to their website and they do have a Swedish office... I will try to find out and get the letter.

haha, that's cool. My 4 year old (well, almost 5) has just got his first Lego kits (Lego City and some Batman lego) and had a great time building them (strictly under my supervision).

He is mad about the little figures too and gets panicky when he loses them. Invariably, they always seem to find their way under the sofa

My son is Lego Star Wars mad. He is 5 now. But he loved Lego since he was about 3 years old. Luckily he has always been mature and would never put the Lego in his mouth. He wanted Darth Maul and Darth Vader for Christmas, as he likes the baddies. Ended up costing me £35 for the 2 on Ebay. They don't sell the mini-figures separately any longer and a lot of "grown ups" collect them. All he wanted to do was play with them. He was very chuffed when he got them as he knew they cost a lot (for what they are) and he didn't expect to get them.

Very nice story by the way.

I wrote to Anne Diamond when I was 7, telling her that 'I love her', and that whenever I see her on TV I have to touch my willy and keep on touching it until my little body starts shivering and I do a wee.

    She never wrote back... whore.

Have you tried a Lego Store? It is a long shot but they have the build your own stands where you can, well build your own figures. I noticed some Harry Potter heads and bodies amongst them the other week. Again a long shot but worth it, plus the stores are good fun.

My boy is 4.5 yrs and loves Lego.

For anyone with kids or who likes cartoons the Ninjago cartoons are pretty good. Well done with a moral to the stories and lots of humour too. They're watchable for an adult for sure.

Also while we are on the subject Legoland at Windsor is a superb day out for all ages. We have been twice and still not seen everything there. Highly reccommended day out for the family however food there is over-priced and below average quality so take a packed lunch. That is the only negative of the place.

    Thanks to Roach-Rampino

the star wars ones can only be bought with sets or in poly bags for special events. Some figures like the gold C3PO or the boba fett out of the cloud city sell for £250+ on Ebay. You can buy shirtless darth mauls at the moment for £14-£18 but if you keep them 12 months they will double in price. I buy and sell a lot of Lego. Its money for old rope as it is so collectible and Lego has in my opinion the best customer services in the world. They are always giving me free stuff and if they ever cock an order up they send you complimentary gifts.

The best set they ever did was a UCS millenium falcon. Used they can cost about a grand, new in box can cost up to £2000. Its a shame I dont get to build much. As soon as you open the box it loses some value although some sets are still worth a mint. I bought a Lego carousel 3 years ago for £199 and sold it just before xmas for £700.

This is what I hate about Lego. It's for fucking kids....! It means I have to pay £20 for a Darth Maul figure, or teach my son a quick lesson about capitalism. I prefer to think of all 5 year olds as socialists.

    No offence..

I only referred to Swedish meatballs, based on the Trading Places character - Inga from Sweden

Personally, I hope it went to some kid who wanted to use his imagination and have some fun. Not a profiteer.
