Flu bug puts me in hospital.

Morning.

Just a little insight to my recent Flu bug.
I started with it last Saturday lunch time & was feeling the normal aches, pains, up & down temp etc.
I ended up in bed until going to work Monday morning.
So still feeling a little rough I went to work and took the usual tablets etc & noticed I had a bit of a sore throat too.
After a couple of days the main throat pain went away but I still found it difficult to swallow and it felt like my tongue had swollen up.
Yesterday I was in pain again & really swollen so went to the docs and got referered straight to a consultant and Bradford royal Infirmary.
I went there to be greated by to people waiting to operate on me there and then. It turns out I had Quinsys.

I'd been here less than 10 minutes & they had a camera up my nose, needles in my throat cutting and draining the infected abcess.

i'm now up and about feeling 100% better & hoping to be sent home today.

Sorry to hear that, you have my sympathy and I hope you're getting better by the minute.
What ward were you on? I was on 4 (MAU) for a spell yesterday after another bad black out.

Ah, ENT; shoulda twigged. I hate the place I can't wait to get outta there, as soon as i'd had my ecg etc i was gone.

Op 2 Done, minimum amount of gunk sucked out. Just gotta get some more drugs & might be sent home after lunch.

Back home now with a 2 week sick note to recover.

Had that myself once, almost 20yrs ago. Never known pain like it. Must've been bad, I took 4 days off work.

Thought I was getting it again last Thursday though. Nowhere near as bad as it turned out but still pretty shite. Suffered it til Wednesday evening and had to get an emergency appointment to see a doctor. Was offered BRI but took the option of Eccleshill instead. Cute little Asian female doc said I had some nasty infection back there and put me on antibiotics. 2 days in and feel I've turned a corner at last but had no more than an hour's sleep each night since last Friday.

Never heard anyone else having Quinsy's since I had it. Thought I must've imagined it!

Hoping you get out of the diseased shithole that is the BRI ASAP. Get well soon.

Nasty stuff mate

I had this a couple of years back then got tonsillitis 12 times in 11 months and they eventually whipped them out. Never had pain like it and glad i never have to experience it again.

On the plus side i haven't had a cold or sore throat since and they were taken out in February 2011
