i recently went to the motorcycle trade show and got chatting to the guys at datatool and had a look at their new stuff.
one thing that took my eye was the new heated grips they have just come out with, they are a new design with no separate control box and direct to battery connection - we used to stock and fit a few brands of grips and have had problems with all of them (oxford grips being the most problematic)
the datatool ones pick up on the elevated voltage that occurs when the bike is running to activate and so automatically switch off when you turn the bike off, there is a magnetic switch system built into the left handlebar grip to turn on and control the heat (being a magnetic switch, its totally sealed from the elements.
on the right handlebar grip there is a small LED that tells you its on and what heat setting you have selected.

as i am a certified datatool installer they let me have a set for testing and i fitted them last week in place of my old oxford grips - im so glad i did!!

the only problem is that they are reasonably priced to the public and are a doddle to fit - looks like i'll be getting less work fitting & fixing handgrips in the future!
