    Shit BT Fibre Availability Dates

So I have had a a shiny new green cabinet at either end of my road for the last 6 months or so and checking regularly the date available for Fibre has been pushed back from 31st September to 31st December to 31st March and now states not available in my area? WTF are BT playing at???? most of my town is now fibre enabled, hell my mum and inlaws can get it but dont want it which is hugely frustrating lol. I understand its a huge project unrolling Fibre but surely through precise planning etc it cant be that hard to confirm a date for the cab to be enabled GRRRR

I have the same problem. The really annoying thing for myself is the 2 doors to my right are on a different exchange which is enabled and 1 road to be left (less than 50 feet away) is virgin enabled. We are stuck here with a 5 meg connection and bt just keep saying not available but will be available this year.

I have BT FTTC 80/20 and I am really pleased with it, especially the upload speed. The cabinet is about 4 houses down from me, so I get full speed off it.
Whats interesting about my installation though is that the fibre does not come from my towns exchange, it comes from the next town down the roads exchange about 5 miles away. I have a mate who works for BT who's on the fibre network install team, and apparently thats happened in a lot of towns.

one exchange feeds a few smaller exchanges , the copper dialtone comes from the same exchange as before the adsl is just piggybacked so doesnt matter where it comes from duct routes etc may be better to the cab from the other exchange, plus the 21cn kit that runs the adsl side is only installed in certain bs exchanges . we get faults supposedly in whalley cabs but when we get there we find they are actually clitheroe cabs fed off whalley bout 6 or 7 miles away

He told me it was to do with my exchange not having the power capacity to power the fibre stuff....the Cleveleys exchange where my fibre goes to has a big new substation type building built onto it, presumably to allow it to supply the surrounding areas.

I was talking about the rollout and supply....and if you think it will remain uncapped or unthrottled dream on.......

Well we will see - it was capped at 100gb month , then they upped to 300 then they dropped the cap completely . So they have been going in the opposite direction to most companies in this respect .

So hang on, BT are coming to install? Is it not just an enablement of line and throw you a new router? Do they have to physically fuck about at your house?

Moved in last March and the bt page said end of the month..watched it being pushed back to this summer, which I'm still not overly optimistic about.

yes they install new router then go to cab and reroute wires to piggyback adsl then back to house to check all now ok. they also ensure wiring from outside goes to 1st socket (IE where the router will be sited)

    Thanks to joeninety0

Hmmmm. Could be a problem for me then as my router lives in the loft and not on the first socket. All internal wiring is BTs anyway though...

just been on the phone to BT, they cant offer Fibre in my area until june. but they did offer me the unlimited normal BB package, phone and youview TV for £33 a month. £10 cheaper than what im paying sky at the moment.

Is youview any good? im thinking i should just wait until june before i move over to BT...
