    Default Home Automation

Been looking to get some home automation going for a while. There didn't seem to be anything on the market that offered enough functionality for a reasonable price. But, I have found the below, today, and it looks to tick the boxes I need. It is up and running with lighting and power and will be bringing CH control soon. It works on both Apple and Android devices too.

Thought I'd post it here, hopefully it's of use to others.

Like it. I was considering something like this recently. A friend of mine has light switches that he controls using his Pronto remote and it is pretty good but reliant on the remote. I like the idea of being able to use a mainstream phone or tablet though. Also the fun I could have with my lodger would be legendary!!

Check out automatedhome.co.uk for more HA stuff. There's a reasonably active mailing list as well which is worth subbing to.

Thats really nice kit, I saw it at a trade show early last year, it worked really well, I was tempted at the time but it was a lot more expensive, seems to have dropped to about half price since then looking at screwfix.

I've also signed up for this. And it looks encouraging. But the link I posted above, suits me better. It means I can use all my existing bulbs. It also gives me heating control and Power socket control. Plus they look very nice too.

Posted the video for those that didn't click the link...

I've been looking at home automation since 2010, still haven't jumped on the bandwagon but if theirs a few of us doing it I will.

Buy stuff with the FS20 protocol.

Use Fhem to control it with a Cul deivce from busware attached to your pc,

Use andfhem on your phone to have remote control.

Its cheap and your save fortunes on this other stuff.

Not yet. Just getting my place up to scratch. Will look into it more seriously, soon.

I already have the music and video streaming sorted. Just need temperature control and lighting.

Hi Chaps, I've not been on here for ages but been looking at automation for years, I've been an network engineer by trade for the last 15 years and still going strong. I'm now just in the process of setting up a company called avicci aimed at affordable home automation. Brave I Know!! I have done a search on this forum and have ended up here. Here are a couple of video's of our very early stages on power, lighting, and audio visual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBVBlqFnOxg please let me know your feedback!!!

    Thanks to xppaul

Excellent work my friend. Is it hardwired or wireless? What back end are you using?
