The Simpsons Tapping out game on ipad costs??

Hi,
A friend of mine's son has an iPad and always asks before downloading a new app etc.. However they just received a bill for £200 and asked me to look at the account to see what's going on.

He downloaded The Simpsons Tapping out in January and since then he has received charges for lots of other The Simpsons Tapping out things like donuts or something.

Does anyone who knows this game understand what has happened here and explain it for me please???

I would guess that he has been buying "donuts" in game to speed up playing through it, whether he knew what he was doing or not is anyones guess, but I would think you had to enter the password to confirm the purchase like you do when purchasing Apps.

They are known as "freemium" games, where they are free to download, but you can pay for in-game items with real cash (and this is how the devs make money)

I had something similar with my daughter, turns out in game purchases dont need a password. I emailed apple support and explained what had happened and as a gesture of good will they gave me a full refund and instructions on how to disable in game purchases.

My Mum (in her 60's) got an iPad for xmas and she keeps saying things popup asking her to buy coins, or tokens or whatever the game uses, and I've been telling her not to worry as she will have to put a password in if she is being asked to spend money, looks like I will have to change that advice!

They just need to make any purchase require a password, as it is at the minute if I leave my phone in a cab, within 2 mins someone could be playing a game and spending my cash without even needing a password. (Yes I would be the silly cunt for forgetting my phone but you get the point.)

This titles system is bonkers. You apparently have to service your car every so many races and it takes around 6 hours to service unless you pay to speed it up at a really steep cost. Read it over at maxconsole I think.

this part of modern gaming is utter bollocks, my wife keeps getting hooked on these piss shit games that are free but after a few hours progress is only possible either by waiting for like an hour or paying for some ludicrously priced in game credits. I spose we can point the finger at hacked apps but at this rate they are just going to push people away from games all together, or just find other ways to get shit for free.

IAP Cracker is the old version so best to use IAP Free.

These apps are called Baitware apps I think, where they specifically aimed get the kids hooked and instead of waiting for a period of time they entice them to buy tokens/coins etc, the buying system is so slick that kids don't realise or have the concept of actually spending real money. A lot of people have had their kids wind up £100's thru these.

1) Delete, reinstall the app on 4.1.0 and make the in-game update!
2) Close the game (this includes from the multitasking bar)
3) Unzip the file and move it to: var/mobile
4) Rename the file "Tapped Out" as "Tapped"
5) Open MobileTerminal and write these
commands:
a) su(enter)
b) password: alpine
c) ldone Tapped -s(return)
d) chmod 775 Tapped(return)
e) killall -9 SpringBoard(return)
6) After ur device respring go to: var/mobile and rename the file again as "Tapped Out"
7) Cut the file and paste it in var/Mobile/Applications/Tapped Out/Tapped Out Release NA.app/
8) After pasting it, reboot and that's it. ENJOY!!

i did the AIP hacks and destroyed the 2 games I had sat on the ipad waiting to be bothered to crawl through the last stages of, kinda ruined them but I'm glad they are out of the way. to do it legit I would have cost me about 500quid. what the fucking fuck.

I have used Game Guardian on android in the past, you need root and there are quite a few guides for common games. I tested it with dead trigger and it worked.

i got this from the game guardian website for this game on android you dont need root just uninstall the old one and install this one and you should start with what you had before only difference is you wont have to pay any donuts for upgrades or anything
