Wii solderless chip F/W update

Hi guys,

A fews years back I ordered and fitted a solderless chip to a friend's Wii. I assume all was working well but very recently he said that new backups were not working. Are F/W upgrades still available for old modchips?

I bet someone is going to ask the model of modchip that's fitted!

D2Sun and Wasabi sort of ring bells! WOuld it be better for him to get a new chip or softmod?

i dont think they are any more mate as everyone soft mods there wiis now, i would personally soft mod it with the latest files as far as i am aware you can do any wii not without a game or anything with a letterbomb and it is really straightforward to do i did have a wiikey in mine but in the end gave up on it and did the soft mod worked a lot better for me.

Yes go for the softmod leave the chip inside the wii, wont cause problems.
