original xbox as an emulator - could do with a few pointers.

Not sure if i'm allowed to discuss the details of what's already on the original xbox that i have, but suffice to say it has multiformat emulator that i'd like to update (I think I have all the right "bits" but I'm splodging around in the dark a bit and could do with a bit of guidance if anyone can spare a few minutes.

Cheers real, it has xbmc and coinops 2 r3 on at the moment and am looking to move it up to coinops 5 (have the 64gb of files on my lappy) have hooked up to xbox via ftp and can see c,d,e,f and q partitions. the coinops 2 app is on C drive just not sure how to proceed, i would imagine that co5 needs to go on c but i don't think it has enough space also the f partition appears empty but another guess is that that is locked. would love to get this working even if it needs a bigger drive and some tinkering but I haven't done this kind of stuff for a few years.

yep also been a while since i've played with xbox1

try transferring old version to PC as backup, deleting off xbox then transfer new version over keeping same folder name so the xbmc shortcut still works

bigger hard drive is an option but quite a lot of work

Good idea, i was thinking along similar lines, will give it a whirl and see what happens.

If it were me, and there was nowt else you were bothered about, I'd :
1.Boot to AutoInstallerDeluxe disk
2.Do a one-click XBMC as dash install and add an F drive as an option
3. Create an "Emulators" folder on F
4. FTP the Coinops5 folder into the F:\Emulators folder.
5. XBMC should just pick up Coinops5 for you.
Done.

All asume you have a modchip in rather than a softmod though

Thanks Tronads, I'll see if I can get hold of the boot disc as it does have an executer 2, I'll still back it all up to pc first though just in case I arse it!

just to update,with the autoinstaller disk stuck a 250gb hdd in there and used the boot disk to format and set up, chose to add an f: drive then ftp'd to "emulators" folder(ftp was a bit flaky but figured that antivirus was stepping in and buggering things up! easily sorted once I'd figured it out.) and............works perfectly!! really good multi emulator with loads of options. Cheers Real & Tronads for the pointers. Coinops 5 rox!!

AFAIK the laserdisc versions were included in CO5 but do not work as BP was keeping the working versions for a select few, don't know why, but that seemed to be the gist from UG forum. I'll do some more digging and see if I can find some more info.

Interesting.....I think they "think" they are working, certainly they are going through some kind of motion in starting....I was thinking it was some kind of file path error.

my dragons lair runs on CO5 but repeats itself quite often and doesn't always register the button pushes so unplayable. The Daphne author has said it has issues running on an xbox and he doesn't know how to solve them (last time i read about it that is)

Have checked my laserdisc versions and they run but I may be having the same issue as si-amigo but it may be down to me being crap at it, even tried DL2 (as that one gives an indicator for direction to move) but can't avoid getting panned in the first scene!
