Default Convert to xvid (specific version)

As per title, I need to convert various files for playback on an LCD via the USB port, but the media player on it is pretty basic, and is throwing fits when playing normal .avi xvid files from the usual places as they use a later version of the xvid codec than the TV supports.

There are no firmware updates that I can find - the telly is branded as a Bush but it is fact by Vestel.

Anyway, I'm looking for the simplest bit of software that will allow me to convert xvid/divx/x.264 from the usual places into a .avi that uses one of the following:

    xvid 1.00
    xvid 1.01
    xvid 1.02
    xvid 1.03
    xvid 1.10 beta 1/2

I would guess 1.03 or the beta 1/2 versions maybe best, but as long as they encode and keep the same quality as the original I'll be happy as they aren't for me anyway lol.

The TV also supports .vob, but I think the filesizes woulkd put me off this route as they only have a 16gb stick.

I used to use Super to convert all my videos, but for some reason it now does everything out of sync so I've binned it and thought I'd ask the DF experts.

The quicker the conversion and the less clicks/setup the better, I'll just leave it going overnight.

    Any ideas?

I asked the same question on DF a while ago, and was pointed towards Freemake. Does the job for me.
I don't know the specific version it encodes to but it's worth a punt for free.
Just make sure you deselect all the additional options when installing.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

    Thanks to funkyg

I think I may have picked up on funkyg's earlier thread and got freemake it's very good, simple and works. A lot of others are paid for, or free trials tend to have watermarks or the other shareware are just not that good. You can also convert and burn onto a dvd for use in a player.
