Not sure whether to contact them directly, are they blocking these boxes or should I just call them?

Looks very much Like This loophole is now being closed, probably due to the fact that everyone is trying it via the activate channels link

    Yep, being closed...

Phone them and see if they can do it (Probably have to get a supervisor to ok it) Say your old box died and this was cheap.

Are the Thomson boxes worth anything? I have one, that I have been meaning to repair the PSU in.

I'm not fully understanding the situation with these cards and boxes, but if my understanding is correct, then any master card linked to a non Thomson box can no longer be updated...so what about the old Sky+ boxes, are the old sd cards effected in the same way ? Could someone still share a card from one of the old non hd boxes, obviously being able to share sd only, or are they changing encryption the same ?

SD will be fine. Only HD subscriptions will be effected. I have a SD sub on a HD box and it updates fine i have left the card in the official box for days. I even force the new software on it. All clears fine.

I think it's just a stab in the dark. But a decent one.

Same as how I've been saying it will be when the Prem starts. It all adds up.

But who wants to watch an SD sub? I'd rather watch through the bottom of a pint glass.
