    Info Bowlers Manchester

Hi all. Not sure where to post this so sorry in advance Mods.

My son has been saving up to build a gaming pc and we are thinking of going to Bowlers in Manchester.
Are we likely to find top end gear there or do you think it would be a waste of journey from Notts.
He has got his mind set on....

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350
    Asus Crosshair V Formula Motherboard
Plus case plus Ram plus Graphics card ect.

Just wondering is he better to order online or would it be worth a trip out to see what they have at Bowlers.

I would buy online these days. Bowlers is not the same as it was. The cost of fuel and admission will negate any possible discount.

I did not think it was still going it went down hill so quickly, the entrance fee was getting ridiculous and like others have said by the time you factor in fuel their was no savings to be made, it was also a hot bed of thieving going on in the car parks and side roads and a wheel clamping extortion racket

Bowlers is dead. I used to have a stall doing console repair up to a month ago.

No customers and hardly any traders anymore.

Save the fuel and order from Scan.co.uk

Bowlers is dead. +1 don't bother. Order on line or if you want a drive north visit Scan at Bolton.

I used to hang around you guys with the discs all the time, buying shitloads of ps1 copies and vcds. Was always comical when the cops turned up as the "traders" grabbed what they could and ran and the vultures grabbed all the freebies. I was so scared of getting nabbed for buying them I used to run too! Good times.

That's also got me thinking - I remember when I was up north back in the day, Microdirect used to be brilliant on prices and they would give a trade account/discount to almost anyone that asked. Just wondering, are they no longer competitive?

Scan Aria and Microdirect are all with in 20 mins drive i look stuff up on the web and go to who ever is the cheapest scan can be a pain in the arse at weekends but sometimes its worth popping into the showroom for really good deals they don`t have online

been using scan since early nineties when they were in a tiny scruffy unit in little lever, cant really beat em for price, every time i go in i try to get Ramila the owner as she remembers me from years ago and always gives me trade !! nice woman, was in there yesterday. It would be worth the drive down from notts if you keep an eye on the daily deals they do some cracking bundle deals, i.e. mobo, cpu, ram and case etc.

    Thanks to Lighty
