Here's a photo I took from work.

The guy is wrapping yellow tape around a pole that's near the entrance to a portacabin. He has obviously been told to do this because some joey has walked into it...

So, what does he do when he gets the tape up higher than he is tall? Stand on a rather unstable chair...

I just think it's hypocracy.

Yellow tape, check. Hi-vis, check. Chair....

Health and Safety has ruined this country.

That's like some weird Escher drawing. What is the pole he's working on holding up? Is it behind or in front of the door? The stairs appear to be held up by the fence post.

Health and Safety hasn't ruined the country it is the incompetent advisors that are running around scared giving false advise which has ruined a remarkable reputation that the HSE and their associated professionals working in the industry.

My take on this:
It looks like it is causing an obstruction to the people walking out of the office door. He is right to mark it yellow by whatever means he is but why so high?

A better idea would be to divert the steps to the right as you come out. This should have been done by the company installing the cabins.

He has been ill advised - 'Here lad, get that pole marked yellow'. He has but has not been advised how or how much.

Cheers mate. I'll try again later on my laptop. Strange really as I tried the url in firefox and internet explorer and still timed out both times. Even disabled AV and firewall. Will try and get it up on my lappy before I put pornography on it later.

I wouldn't blame it on health and safety, it's the result of silly cunts who claim for stupid shit.

If I walked straight into the pole and even did myself an injury, I wouldn't dream of suing the company. (I have actually whacked my head on a few things when pissed - even if I've been pissing out blood I never thought to sue)

However in this sad world we live in - with the tape if someone hits the pole the company can successfully defend their case. Without it would probably be a different story.

We are probably of the generation that belives if you fall arse over tit walking down the road you blame yourself for being a clumsy idiot. Not look for broken paving and try and sue the council.
