I remember when we were underage we used to go to a pub that annually would have loads of random cheap ales for a couple of weeks - some were actually pretty nice.

However since, it's become firmly stuck in my head that beer is to be drunk cold. Now I've ended up disliking whatever my current favourite lager is, unless it's served below about 5-6°c.

Cask Marque have an app now and there's an ale trail challenge in it. Not a route as such just scan a QR code on a poster in a location, then get prizes like a bottle opener. The app is called Cask Finder.

Favourite ale at the mo is made by Banks's called Sunbeam. Or anything goes as long as it's golden. Not too arsed about the dark ones.
I might pop down there this afternoon, see what they have on at the moment.

Your eyes will pop out! They have flat screen televisions with the beers listed on them. First time I asked for a lager shandy they didn't look impressed. I wanted a citra anyway and it was spot on.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Not really an ale drinker but I've just tried Brooklyn Brewery Lager and it tasted like an ale to me.

Brooklyn is lovely. It is a sort of in between lager.
Drank a lot of it in NY, then my local restaurant got it on tap! We very pleases. That and Meantime lager is another good one and meantime pale ale.

Really not sure why everyone is suprised about the prevalence of real ale - unless you're drinking in a crappy chain pub (eevidence then they're likely to have something on a hand pump) or a bar type drinking venue then most pubs I seem to go in will have a couple of proper bitters on. Now whether or not they've been kept well that's another question but standards seem to be improving.
