    Tech Meanwhile, on a PC....

With all this talk of PS4 and Xbox 720, I thought I would show you this setup on a PC.

Basically its a Oculus Rift combined with a Omni Treadmill.

Looks ace. Am really looking forward to receiving my OR dev kit in June. Here's another mod where they have separated the gun control. Using a Razor Hydra to control movement and aim. (You can actually properly blind-fire around corners and behind cover. Awesome). I foresee game devs putting in an 'Oculus Rift' mode for their titles.

I am more excited about this than the next next gen consoles. Just hope the consumer unit of the OR has much improved resolution.

    Thanks to ZX7R

Yeah got my dev kit on order too, no sign of shipping yet, but should be epic once it's out, although gutted at having to buy another unit once it hits retail, as the rez on devkit is only 720p and retail is going to be 1080.

My mate's had his OR for about a week now. Finds himself putting his arms up to stop himself running into walls in TF2 lol

    Love TF2 play mosts nights.
Only in Britain….do we use the word “politics” to describe the process of Government. “Poli” in Latin meaning “many” and “tics” meaning “bloodsucking
    creatures”

I love TF2, but i don't think you would be able to rocket jump with this setup. But this does look awesome. I've never seen that omni treadmill before.

He backed the project on kickstarter within 24 hours.

Resolution isn't 720p that we're used to on TV. It's halved because it's split across both eyes. It's the only downside so far, says he couldn't actually read the text during the tutorial.

Didn't want to start a new thread as it's sort of related to the Oculus Rift, but I thought this was kinda cool as a homebrew solution lol!

My mate teamed it up with a Razer Hydra the other night. Says it makes a massive difference. Was still complaining about the 'ceefax' graphics though lamo

Says that because the screen is so close, a lot of the pixels are in your peripheral vision, this makes the area you're looking at a lot more pixelated than what you'd expect.

Sounds like they need a retina version to me!
