    Default little project

i bought an aprilia caponord a couple of years ago to use as an instructor bike (it was cheap)
    ETV_1000_Caponord___Raid_01-06_1.jpg

it has just under 100bhp and is great fun but as always i need more power and as it uses the v990 rotax engine i have bought the engine and electronics from one of these to put in it

should be fun - dontcha think??!!

Having owned one of the engine donor bikes (see my avatar) i reckon that would indeed be fun

Isn't it just different cam profiles between the two engines?

different camshafts (over 2mm higher lift), cam timing, pistons (higher compression ratio),much larger inlet valves, gearbox (close ratio on later mille), denso ignition system as opposed to the capo sagem system, massively larger throttle bodies and higher flow injectors, 16bit ECU - the list goes on

    capo - just under 100bhp
mille, derestricted & cam timings setup properly - around 145bhp

Thought the edwards (or something) replica had the biggest throttle bodies? Whilst the rest were all the same just differing states of tune.

Having had a go on a falco and a tuono, I prefered the falco as it had more mid range and engine braking than the Tuono, but that could have been the strange slipper clutch.

Part of me things that the capo with thank much power is going to be interesting.

the post 2005 milles has the very large 57mm TB'S but the earlier ones had 51mm's - the capo has 47mm

all v990 rotax's had the PPS clutch system,
its basically a diaphragm connected to the clutch stack and linked to the throttle bodies, when the clutch is out and the bike on overrun with closed throttle it pulls a vacuum on the diaphragm which then pulls the clutch just enough to cause it to slip slightly.

the tuono and the mille were tuned and geared for top end, the falco was tuned for midrange, the futura was tuned for low torque and some midrange and the capo was just plain detuned
the futura and capo also had a weight added to the generator rotor to help at really low revs.

i have fitted futura and falco engines to customers caponords but have always kept the sagem electrics so i can tune them with tuneecu software but i have never done a mille lump with all mille electrics.
i was going to do a 1060 bore kit and shower injectors as i have done one on a customers tuono and its fantastic but the cost was astronomical - as its coming out of my wallet, ill keep the costs as low as possible

    still going strong

just bought a mille swingarm and it looks like a relatively easy mod to make it fit - just need to find a pair of long USD forks (maybe KTM)

been offered a rotrex supercharger kit for my kawasaki z1000 streetfighter so i need to raise some cash,

project millenord is now up for sale,
aprilia caponord with a 2003 RSVmille engine fitted + custom mapping applied to ECU - all necessary mods done to bike to make it reliable and very useable, will include original engine, tank and spare wheels.

this is the fastest, meanest caponord in the uk - possibly the world
    PM if interested.
