    Help Change in Stool Colour

Right, recently (past week) my shits have changed to a clayish/yellow? colour, and almost like diahorea. Im going to assume this is because I came offshore last week, and my eating habbits have changed. To give you an idea of my daily eating routine... (I work 4am-8am, and 4pm-8pm - and sleep in between)

So 4am - start watch Breakfast cereal bar, cup of tea
8am - finish watch (in the odd occasion i have a bacon roll), very rarely though
9am-3pm - intermittent sleep (various noises on ship keep me from getting solid sleep)
    4pm - start watch
5pm - dinner (full meal) - i only eat one full meal a day when offshore, i just dont see the need to eat lunch aswell.
8pm - usually a pack of crisps and a choc bar
    10pm - 3am - sleep. (again intermittently)

Since coming offshore I have also increased my water intake - 1.5l-2l religiously (at home i dont drink as much water, although i know i should)

I have also been taking the following supplements every day at the same time: (although i might come off these for a week, to see if they are causing the problem), but i dont see how as i was taking them when i was home

    Krill Oil
    Primrose oil
    Vitamin D supplement
    Mutli-vitamin

    any thoughts on this?

wont be able to see my GP for another 3 weeks due to being offshore. I have no other symptoms but ill make an appointment to be sure. Internet suggests the colour is within normal range, but its been consistent for a few days now ...

i think taking multi vits & vit d is not good, multi vit has enough D in it for your daily intake., & both oils may be the problem making stool soft & wet like, drinking more(if feeling thirsty all the time) could be a sign if diabetes,
go see GP asap.stool colour could be from overdose of vits. or what ever the term is.
    see the doc bud.

    Nicked from elsewhere...
    How is diarrhea diagnosed?
Most cases of acute diarrhea will resolve themselves within a week or so. If the diarrhea lasts longer, or if there is blood in the stools and there are other symptoms, such as dehydration, the GP (general practitioner, primary care physician) will take a stool sample to check for infection.

A sigmoidoscopy may also be performed. This involves introducing a thin fiber-optic tube through the rectum to look into the intestine. The device has a viewing lens.

The doctor will also ask the patient whether he/she is taking any medications, has traveled recently, and possibly some questions about what foods were consumed over the last couple of weeks. The GP may also examine the abdomen to determine where the pain is.
    SOURCE

Registering and seeing a GP can all be done in one appointment (usually).
Don't like the idea of that sigmoidoscopy lark... but should always get it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

nope we dont have doctors onboard, or anywhere in the vicinity, we only have "Advanced Medical Aiders" (which im one of!), but we arent doctors in any shape or form.

Im going to lay off the vitamins this week and see if anything changes.

Im not drinking more due to thirst. Im only drinking more water because there isnt really anything else to drink on board.

    Thanks to CallmeGoose

If your on the boat, I think your struggling mate - use a cork or a bung.
Else if you can get to a Chemist somehow or something bought aboard, get hold of some Imodium.

I've had colitis since 1987, NOT Ulcerative and therefore easier to control. Until you see a doctor stop all supplements, drink plenty of water and ONLY water. The best way to avoid loose motions is to eat little and often, not how you are eating now. Eat bland food and if you have access to Pro Biotics (live yoghurt) use them. Get it checked ASAP though a food intolerance, possibly caused by the supplements is the likely cause.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

I doubt they will give you asigmoidoscopy just for diarrhoea.

Do you have any other symptoms beside yellow poo and diarrhoea?

Yellow poo is an indicator of many things. Some serious, or it could just be that it passes too quickly through your bowel.

When I was diagnosed I had a Barium Enema XRay and biopsy, that was in '87, these days it will be a Colonoscopy. I was lucky enough to be able to go private as it was a 6-8 week wait for the XRAY and up to 4 weeks for results. . . . Privately the XRAY was as soon as I wanted and I got the results the same afternoon. I think the NHS wait must have killed a lot of Cancer Patients. JUST diarrhoea? it needs to be looked at pronto if it doesn't stop when the supplements are stopped. . .

That's the most probable cause. I wouldnt be too worried at this stage. Give your body more time to get used to it. (">

I was diagnosed in 92 after suffering for 4 years. I spent 4 year under my local hospital who didn't have a clue. In 92 I was sent to Great Ormond Street for 3 weeks. They carried out a barrage of tests, it was horrific. But they diagnosed and found evidence of Crohn's.

I had X-Rays, UltraSounds, Barium Meals, colonoscopies, endoscopies, white cell x rays... The works...!

A stool sample takes a few seconds and can detect cancer.

    Just saying.
