I've seen plenty of talk on the whole issue of BT Sports so thought I would make a post to summarize what's going on and dispel any rumors. Hope this is of use. If you have any questions let me know as I know quite a few people that work for BTTV.

Cost
Free to watch live if you have BT Infinity, to your BT Vision or BT YouView box
Free to use the web app for both BT Infinity AND BT Broadband customers
On Sky it's free if you have BT Broadband or BT Infinity as your internet connection (Order here : https://www.productsandservices.bt.c...N&vendorid=AJM)
On Sky if you don't have BT Broadband or BT Infinity it is £12 a month subscription with a one off £15 activation fee (Minimum 12 months - see caveats)
Order before August 1st 2013 and get a years worth of HD programming for free (£3 a month thereafter)

ESPN

• When the deal is completed, BT will own ESPN’s UK and Ireland ESPN and ESPN America TV channels business, including a programming portfolio consisting of marquee sports rights like the FA Cup, Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League, UEFA Europa League, German Bundesliga and more.
• Additionally, the deal will allow BT to continue to show a host of US sports currently shown on ESPN America, including College Basketball, College Football and NASCAR.

Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League
30 exclusively live Scottish Premier League matches plus 10 Rangers matches from the Scottish Football League.

Hundreds of top-flight league football matches from around the world, including Italy, Germany, France, Brazil and the US.
Women's Tennis Association
Live coverage from 21 global tournaments, including the season-ending WTA Tour Championships.

BT Vision/YouView - (Now called BTTV)
With BT Vision you can pay an extra £20 a month for access to Sky Sports. You CANNOT get Sky Sports on YouView boxes (yet!)

Web Player
If you are a BT Broadband customer you can stream the BT Sports channels to your PC for free

Caveats and Gotchas
Ordering BT Sport if you have BT Broadband will set you up with a new 12 month subscription to the broadband so you can't get BT Sport for free and then just change providers. If you move providers at the end of the 12 months you will also lose BT Sport

I believe if you are on BT ADSL I believe it costs £10/month to have on your BT Vision box (even if you already have a BT Vision box), you will get the app and online version free with ADSL though. This has pissed me off as we have been with BT for years and years and they don't offer infinity here or else I would get it!

Reading the above it doesn't sound like a £10/month deal but I'm sure I read that was the case somewhere. We already have BT Vision and the Sky/ESPN sports viewing card which is £17/month extra IIRC.

EDIT: Looking through their updated FAQs it looks like it is just a one-off £10 viewing card fee as long as you have BTV already. Not sure what happens if you have the Sky package already though as there is only a single viewing card slot.

On it's own I don't want to take this on as a £12 per month sub, so may look to cancel something existing on Sky, maybe drop Sky Sports 1 & 2 and possibly look to change my Internet.

No mention of mlb on it though only reason I have espn ATM but if they are to have it might jump ship with bb too sky has been dire for me since the exchange upgrade in jan everyone seems to be running at 10/15 meg and I'm lucky if I get 2

If you only want Sky Sports and don't care about the rest you can get BT Vision, BT Infinity, free BT Sports and add Sky if you want.

I am pretty sure it will be ESPN only. We have the current BT sports card and that only includes Sky Sports 1 &2 and ESPN, was annoying that it didn't include Sky F1 but the scamming bastards at Sky know how to do it to rape your wallet.

It will use the same card. In the opposite scenario (if you have a sky box) they will activate the BT Sports entitlements on your existing card - not supply you a new, second card. The Vision one will work the same way.

BT Sport is only available on a Vision or YouView box if you have Infinity - otherwise if you only have standard BT ADSL you will need to use a PC. More information on this can be found here : http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...?topicId=27270 - either way BT Sport is free.

Looks like ESPN America will now be part of the BT Sports channels

BT will continue to operate at least one ESPN branded channel with live sports and other sports programming forming part of the BT Sport TV package being launched by BT on 1st August 2013.

Of course, d'oh! I forgot it also comes via satellite. Figured it was over broadband for some reason.

It shouldn't matter. If you have video and audio output from a box it would be easy enough to run a cap card and stream out from there.

Will be interesting to see. I think I read something about only getting 10 hours of streaming a month... but I could be wrong about that - it's been a long day in work.

Initial feel is that it is very quick to load and flick between articles. Content is on a trial basis at the mo so changing all the while

Tempted to move from sky to the Adsl unlimited, 6 months free, 25quid sainsburys card 80 quid quidco, free bt sport and espn on my sky box. Very tempting indeed. I could get fibre but to be honest I can't justify the extra cost I just don't use the net enough at the moment, my downloading has cut massively recently, maybe in the next year or so I will reconsider
