IPAD 3 network locked or not?

Hoping someone can clear soomething up for me.

I have an ipad 3 3g on an orange contract, i assumed that it is network locked so called orange to have the unlock code which they said as im still in contract they wont let me have. So I decided to google a little to see what my sim unlock options are. And there is conflicting information lots of people are saying that the ipad 3 isnt network locked but then people saying that they have one that is, people saying its impossible to be sin locked blah blah...

So are the ipad 3s Network locked and if they are what are my options for unlock? its already jailbroken.

The info about it not being network locked is from the US. If you find out how to get it unlocked
Post back . As I have found EE reluctant to unlock any of there devices.

Yes they do lock ipads but doesn't mean it is as could have been sim free depending in supplier, Check the imei on a checking service online , you can then get it done third party once you know who it's locked too, 3rd party unlocks cost more than the network unlocks but both are factory unlocked.

It may be worth picking up a cheap 3 SIM from somewhere like Amazon for a tenner to see if it works - my iPad 3 is unlocked but I did buy it outright when they first came out so that may make a difference?

Yes you just treat it like a mobile device. Unless it was purchased from apple directly its likely to be locked. Can you not put in a tmobile sim. Not sure if those 12month for £20 web deals are still going.

Since the orange and t-mob venture the 3rd party rout is up and down all time last price was £45 but its been as high as £80

Eblasters soultion is probably best if you cant get what you want from Orange

t-mob have stopped doing the 12 month interweb for £10 or whatever the deal was but there's still folks on ebay selling those. Just picked up one myself for £20 which supposedly is 500mb/month for 12 months.
