Wanted its a long shot but never know, HP Microserver N40L

well decided i really need to centralise my storage instead of multiple locations and lots of the same files on on three machines, i missed out on the n40L deal but really fancy one.

wonder if anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price below or around £140 unlike on ebay where they are making over £100 on them (lucky sods)

or anything comparable (qnap ?) or information on when the next HP deal might be as could wait a month or two

if you have something simliar let me know model and price or maybe swap ?

    TIA

i got a decent second hand dual core HP computer for £70 and filled it with storage. It acts as a sabnzbd downloader and a fileserver etc. It just sits in a spare room connected to the lan. If you're on a budget it's a good option and much more flexible than a dedicated server.

Also if you don't need a small and silent box, you can often get proper servers dirt cheap on ebay.

They chew through power though, my N40L pulls 40w.

Hello mate, not sure if this is any good but they literally just upped the cash back to £100 on the N54L in advance of the new ones being released very soon!

I'm going through all this at the moment and chose the cheap PC option.
I found I had a few PC parts knocking about that I'm not using and decided to throw them all into a case, installed NAS4Free with 10TB's of storage in it and it's working really well.

    Thanks to DejaVu

Might be worth checking these specs for the Gen 8 out to see if it tickles your fancy

Thanks for that, think I will wait month or two I reckon the n54l will probably hit the sub £130 mark then seems that go are always overstocked on product or unless a n40l comes up cheap
