Skybox F3 or F5 help, advice or support needed? give uncle det a shout.

It seems a bit hit & miss.

I noticed that my box updated itself once when I put it into standby. It showed "epg" on the front panel while auto updating.

my F5 (not s) has developed problems where the picture is freezing a lot and getting stuck. I have tried a different type of box and all is fine on there so I know it's not the line supplier..
it sometimes comes up with no signal or will get stuck and not reboot, only way out is to pull the plug..other times it works fine..I did used to leave it on 24/7 but tried switching into standby and seemed to resolve the problem a little..I think it was a cloned box as I couldn't load up new firmware but might try again as got nothing to lose at the moment with it..any ideas Det?

its hard m8 without being able to test it myself but I would try a different firmware, it looks like its allowed some firmware to be flashed which is not 100%

Have you tried a different power supply unit?

The ones supplied with the boxes are very unreliable. Before they fail completely they sometimes go noisy & do weird things to the box.

If you have a 12v PSU that you could try that has the same polarity (inner = +ve) with the same or greater current (amp) rating (2Amp or more), then you could give that a try.

Noticed something today where i have my f5s looped into my 'otherbox' which is on standby. All channels working on my f5s. Then i heard my other boxes h/drive whirring up to do something even thought it was on standby and some channels of the f5s where coming up 'invalid'. Ive read about the invalid channels thing but i thought i would post this as it is maybe something that people havent noticed before. So basically even though the other box it is looped into is on standby it still does something to the looped feed that prevents the f5s from having the lnb feed all to itself.

My box has the odd pause on channels but also when I bring up the EPG screen and scrambles the channel until I take the EPG off. Any ideas ?

Tried new channel list and firmware but still the same.

I've got a weird prob with setana sports 1 every time there's a three o'clock match on it scrambles then after it unscrambles ?
Done it last week. Only just started happening.

Done it last Saturday went off for the match then was back again ? Went to watch today's match and done the same!, every other channels work perfect and no glitch/pauses.

My f3 failed to start last week with the box showing no sign's of power other than the Ethernet port led's blinking, on inspection numerous caps were swollen so I ordered a power supply board of flebay which cost 14 quid .

Ive now fitted the new psu board and its still the same ... is it possible the flash has become corrupt when the psu failed ? And now needs reflashing ? b3
