21 miles to kick off my cycling week. New bits of the Gloucestershire countryside explored and added to the route-bank

5km this morning. Did my usual route backwards today because I wanted to see if running the slightly uneven towpath first instead of last would make a difference but it didn't.

Even though it's a bit slower than Friday, I'm really pleased with this morning's time. When I got up I wasn't keen at all and I was convinced it would be awful. Mile 1 I went out a bit too quickly and paid for it in mile 2 but the last mile was feeling much better.

I'm now beginning to wonder how far I am away from 10min/mile average. I think the first time I see all three laps under 10min I'll be absolutely delighted. Might be a little way off yet though

    10min 28sec per mile
    6min 30sec per km

    14km this morning.
Had the weekend off and been full of man flu, I am amazed I am alive yet alone able to run!

Anyway, a 4:37 in there and I knew it as that km was tough (uphill). But I am pleased after been ill all weekend just to get out.

After a truly shit day in work I was not up for today's ride at all but the missus pushed me out of the door and I'm glad she did.

Didn't push hard at all as is evident from the heart rate but still ended up with a very respectable average and a thoroughly enjoyable 17 miles.

Early ride today. Hard work and my first average under 17mph in ages. I should probably leave more than 13 hours between rides !

5km run I've just done. 6 hours later than my usual 4.30am start but I have a few days off so there's no rush

I set the watch to display pace for current lap and made sure I did the first mile in as close to 10 mins as possible (managed 9:58). I tried to do the same for the second mile and the third but couldn't quite keep it up as you'll see.

Very happy with my time today 11 seconds per mile faster than my previous best average.

    Total time for 5k was 31min 41secs so I'm 1 min 41 from my 30min 5k target.
    10min 9sec per mile
    6mins 18sec per km

    cheers,

Still got man flu and the dark mornings are depressing...

However still cracking on and because of the route my 14km became 15km

Knocked a few seconds off the tough km in the middle. I reversed the route today which is much tougher backwards

Had the first day off from the bike in ages yesterday as I ran late and was busy in the afternoon/evening.

Just been out today for a nice 25 miles. The average has suffered a bit as I stopped for a while to let a wasp out of my cycling shirt (which had stung me 4 times) and I forgot to pause the timer :-(

Just thought I'd mention for anyone looking for running gear, I went to the Nike factory outlet picked up some compression shorts and a compression top for £16 & £13 respectively reduced from £28 each. Never worth the £28 imho but decent for what they were.

They feel amazing to run in

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo whacked today.... Cannot wait to have the weekend off.
Managed to lose a KM (fixed post run) by pausing accidentally on the run today.
Anyhow I worked it out at 17km in the end, managed a 4:45+ which was bad but to be honest the way I am feeling I would have been OK with 5min each km today.

Done now, 46km for the week done and a rest this weekend with improvement next week.

Well I had an enforced 3 week layoff since the birth of my daughter and subsequent illness of my partner.

Got out for the first time today in ages. A really weird feeling 16 miles but surprisingly a good average.

Really happy to be back in the saddle...

Someone came round to sit with the missus today so I managed to get out again today. 16 miles. Heart rate 15 or so bpm higher than before my lay off.

Can't wait to get back into doing it more regularly again.
