The hills seem to be the kiler where i live. I train on mondays and play on saturdays (football) so its hard to do much running. I normally get 6 miles done wednesday and then 5 miles friday.

Ive started eating healthy and drinking water and my recovery times are improving loads.

Still as you like this morning. Chose a nice route and was very very surprised by my times and how consistent they were today!

21km Friday morning so this was good prep

I'm desperate to get back into it all. Away with the missus and baby at the mo but they both need my full time care. Brought my running shoes but haven't been able to get out. I feel like I've undone all my hard work from the last few months

Maybe but at least your ready in the head for it again...

You know you can do it, you know you enjoy it, so as soon as you do get back out just take your time and you will be back in next to no time.
Just don't go hurting yourself! I flew this morning but I can tell you I am hurting. Ankle, foot, hamstring... I am choosing to eat through it Got a 21km on Friday before a Full English in the office so I need to rest until then. Going to give the bike a rest tomorrow morning as part of the recovery.

It's the first Friday of the month which means it's is Full English Friday Buffett in the office an therefore I do my monthly 21km

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/398146722

Very happy to keep under 4:30 on each km, I never set out today to do a PB as I've had hardly any sleep this week and carrying a couple of niggling injuries.

Anyway, only 30 seconds away from beating 1:30 which is always my aim now, I am putting that down to crossing busy roads and cars pulling out of drives.
It's not normally as busy as it was today, very odd.

Weighed myself last night and I've got up to 20st 3lb.

I got myself down from 20st to bang on 19st before all the problems started so I've actually got worse, through being idle plus convenience food. What I do know is that it's through necessity and not laziness and I'm absolutely desperate to get back into it - especially since I know it was working and could see the results.

We have been called back from our break early because of yet another family emergency so I'll be on the treadmill or trainer or possibly even the road today

Just to give you an insight as to why my times are quick, I am 9st11 ringing wet! I was 11st7 when I first started running and has taken me two years to get to where I am now. Ideally I want to be around 10st, the wife is not happy because she is slowly catching me with the baby on board.

I'll never be a runner. I'm quite solidly built so I'm only really running against myself which is why the whole logging and data recording thing is so good for me.

Cycling is a leveller though because even though I'm heavy I have very strong legs and can push hard. I've shocked many thin cyclists, something which never fails to make me feel great.

Got to be honest, when I used to cycle to work and I got overtaken by a 'fatty' It used to spur me on to catch them! A lot of the time I would fail miserably...
But running, I will race any fecker who is on the street and to this day on all of the runs I have been on (other than comps like the GNR) not one single person has done me yet!

'Fatty' is harsh because when I see someone who is 'bigger' running, I am always spurring them on in my head. Good on them!

I did 17 miles out on the bike today and my garmin edge corrupted the bloody file ! I'm livid as it was a decent time lol.

Tried a couple of the fit file fixers but none seem to like it

    gutted

edit, even the gimps at the garmin forum can't fix it

14km this morning - still sore from 21km Friday AM and a 500 mile drive Saturday.

had to stop at one point to sort laces out which never normally happens!
Conditions were similar to last Monday, very very wet with one road flooded (in the 2nd km) but not as windy.

I've finally caved in and bought myself a helmet. The fact that I now have a child and I'm putting in some good mileage have meant I have put my dislike of them to one side. I went to Evans expecting to pay £50+ but was pleasantly surprised to come away with a nice specialized one for £30.

The missus is a lot stronger now so I am going to start again in earnest this week.

Also the missus has hinted we have £1200 spare that I can have for a new bike if I like. I'm not unhappy with the one I've got but a good number of the components are lower end so if I take the opportunity to upgrade now it should last me a good while.

Rather than a carbon frame with cheaper components I'm thinking an aluminium frame with top notch gear on it.

    Rather excited lol

Not into the cycling malarkey myself but my boss picked up a cracking deal on buying the parts separately and then taking it to the local bike shop to be put together.

I've seen frames in cycle surgery before at 80% off (giant), so that is always a possibility.

    15km this morning.

it hurt.. I was knackered.. But I have noticed that when I am knackered and it hurts, it is because I am going hard!! No 4:30 + so all in all a good run.
In fact the 14km was under 1hour which means I was on for a sub 1:30 21km which is always my target.

I've certainly got all the skills as I stripped down and rebuilt my old Simoncini bike countless times. Time is another matter but now it's been suggested I'll have a look. I always suspected the saving wasn't worth it.

We are just waiting for the district nurse to turn up then I'm off out on my bike. Will update later.

I always build my own. That way I get the exact spec I want. Makes a lot of sense.

Malty you you can pick up an Ultegra spec carbon for under a grand at Planet X.

PM me anything you are looking for malty, my mate runs his own bike shop. He specialises in DH kit but he can get most things from his suppliers and he is fanatical about all riding.

This is his site, there won't be road stuff on there but I will see what deals he can do you on that kind of thing
