    Default The Sun online

So.... I would never read that rag that Murdoch pushes, but I was looking at the Football Gossip on BBC Sport and kept seeing "The Sun (subscription required). Immediately I thought, what kind of idiot would pay for news online and especially The Sun. But I was intrigued to the cost.

The actual cost for a years Sun Online is ............. £536

    What..!..!..!

A could Google Calculator then told me that the actual cost for a physical copy is less than £100. (Provided it's still 20p during the week).

I can only think charging must have been a success with the other NewsCorp papers, but are people (if you can call Sun readers that) really going to pay for this?

After all that.... That was for a delivery service.

The Sun Online is actually only £2 a week. So.... I take it all back.

Although I wouldn't read it if you paid me.

    HOS anyone?

They always have a a huge up front cost so that when there's an "offer" of £10 for a year people jump on that.

People like to be dictated to so buy this crap.

The only thing I ever used to read in the sun was the football comic strip.

    Thanks to Ashley

The Sun aside, good journalism costs money. I pay a monthly subscription for the Guardian on my iPad and for that I get the regular news + articles, columns, education, social welfare supplements etc.. If you want bland, wire type news then yes the net is awash with that kind of stuff. However if you need analysis and a journalist who is willing to stand by the veracity of their reporting then you need to pick more carefully.

very few journalists around these days. Most reporting is done by taking quotes and pictures from social media.

Personally only ever glance at the sun in a cafe e.t.c and that is limited to "Dear Deadrie" ....

If I want factual well researched news or reporting I usually head over to David Icke's website or if I want hard copy I get the Viz !!!
